Who you are

You have 5+ years of relevant software development industry experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems
Software development experience in Go
Experience developing kubernetes operators
Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience leading and shipping large scope technical projects in collaboration with multiple experienced engineers
You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across engineering teams
You are a strong problem solver and have solid production debugging skills
You thrive in a fast paced environment, and see yourself as a partner with the business with the shared goal of moving the business forward

What the job involves

At the heart of ClickHouse Cloud is a Kubernetes operator
This operator manages thousands of databases, and is deployed in three clouds and dozens of regions and Kubernetes clusters
The operator is responsible for provisioning new ClickHouse clusters, managing users and permissions, configuration, backups, upgrades and much more
As part of our team, you will play a key role in evolving this critical component
You'll design and implement new features to support the growing complexity and scale of our cloud platform, while ensuring the operator remains robust, testable, and easy to maintain
Work deep inside Kubernetes to design and develop new features and improvements for the clickhouse-operator
Work closely with the autoscaling team and the core team to make sure new features are integrated seamlessly into the operator
Educate and support other teams so that they can contribute to the operator codebase
Be part of the on-call rotation and investigate issues in our ClickHouse Cloud production environment

Our take

Database management systems have long been important to the operations of businesses. However, these systems can be painfully slow. ClickHouse solves this problem with its ultra-fast database management system, that powers real-time analytics and apps.

ClickHouse's founding team hail from companies including Yahoo!, Netflix, Salesforce and Google. This has not only lent the company an impressive amount of credibility, but has also allowed it to identify the needs and challenges of enterprises when it comes to their databases. Its system works between 100 and 1,000 times faster than traditional options, and has led to the company being trusted by the likes of eBay, Uber and Spotify.

Valued at $1 billion back in 2021, it is clear that ClickHouse holds a strong position in the market, though it does face competition from rivals such as StarTree and Imply. It has seen substantial funding, the most recent of which is cited to help expand its product and engineering teams. In 2022, the company also launched ClickHouse Cloud - a fully managed, SOC 2 Type 2-compliant cloud-hosted version of its database that is now available in the AWS Marketplace.
