Company mission
To create one million meaningful friendships across the globe.
Role
Who you are
- Experience running your own portfolio of partner, supplier or client accounts, and improving their results, not supporting someone else's portfolio
- A track record of holding partners to account: managing an underperforming supplier, renegotiating terms, or recovering costs
- Meticulous attention to detail: you hold yourself and your DMCs to a high standard and pick up on the small things that make the difference between a good trip and a great one
- Strong commercial judgement and a real instinct for what makes a high-quality customer experience
- The ability to own messy problems and bring a fully formed plan, rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Pace: you resolve issues quickly and don’t let them drift
- Confident, credible relationship management with external partners and internal teams alike
- Comfort with performance data and dashboards, used without hand-holding, plus practical use of AI tools to work faster
- Clear, direct communication, including holding a difficult DMC conversation well
- A collaborative style that lives Flash Pack’s values and helps the people around you
- Travel industry experience isn’t essential. Some of our best KAMs joined us from outside travel
- We’re after the right person and if you don’t quite hit all the criteria, we’d still encourage you to apply
What the job involves
- We’re not booking holidays. Our Flashpackers hand us two weeks of the one life they get, often travelling solo, often braver than they feel, and trust us to make it the best fortnight they’ve ever had. That’s why the Key Account Management team has one mission: to work with our local partners to deliver the best trips in the world
- As a Key Account Manager at Flash Pack, you’ll be our local partners’ main point of contact. You’ve managed big, demanding accounts before, and now you want to do it with partners all over the world, on trips that change people’s lives
- Your mission: make every trip in your portfolio one our Flashpackers can’t stop talking about. You’ll look after around 20 Destination Management Companies (DMCs), our local partners who run our trips on the ground. You’ll need to build strong relationships with them, hold them to our standards and fix quality issues fast when a trip falls short. This is a critical commercial role, in a small team of three Key Account Managers, reporting to the Head of DMC Account Management
- Managing a portfolio of DMCs and their trips, holding them to Flash Pack’s quality standards and service levels
- Owning the quality results across your portfolio, and acting quickly on any trip that falls below target
- Onboarding and training your DMCs, from Flash Pack brand and product knowledge through to systems and processes
- Running regular DMC performance reviews, giving constructive feedback and setting clear improvement goals
- Pursuing and recovering compensation where trip quality falls short
- Owning the end-to-end itinerary change process for your trips, improving the product iteratively
- Acting as the link between your DMCs and internal teams (CX, Safety, Finance, Product Innovation and others)
- Delivering the team’s quarterly trip quality priorities for your own trips
Application process
- Our interviews take place on Google Meet and usually consist of the following stages:
- Introductory chat with our talent team to see if there is a match (30-45 mins)
- An interview with the hiring manager to hear more about your background and experience and to give you a deep dive into the role (45-60 mins)
- A case study and presentation with the hiring manager and a key stakeholder to see how you’d solve a problem (60 mins)
- Meet with one of our founders for any final questions you or we have (45-60 mins)
Our take
Flash Pack is a travel firm whose mission is to build new friendships through group travel for solo travellers. The founders are a couple who started discussing the business idea behind Flash Pack during their first date. Both of them realised that there was a gap in the market for a travel company that catered to people such as themselves.
Their target market is professionals with a growth mindset. Their trips are carefully designed to offer immersive and authentic experiences, distinguishing Flash Pack in a tourism market that is crowded with bland trips.
While the company took a hit during the pandemic, hitting pause on its adventures like many others - but it didn't stay down for long. Since relaunching, the company has seen even more success, with triple-digit year-on-year growth and a shelf full of awards to show for it. And with the solo travel market heating up fast, Flash Pack looks perfectly positioned to ride the next big wave.

- Customer, Team, Self: You seek what is best for Flash Pack before yourself or your group. Service is the foundation on which this business is built and we believe a culture that fosters non-ego, servant leadership is a truly differentiated advantage that can only be built on trust.
- Growth Mindset: We compete in a hyper-competitive industry where benchmarking against competitors is the norm. We’re looking for people who want to set the benchmark rather than celebrate incremental improvements over the competition
- Simplify, Focus, Execute: We value simplicity over complexity. We strive to ruthlessly prioritise. We say no to many things so we can focus on the things that are truly meaningful to us. Bias-to-action and avoid analysis-paralysis. Focus on great results rather than on process
- Humility: No A’holes please, this includes staff and customers. We bring together exceptional individuals but we optimise for the best team outcome. There is no individual bigger than the team and we don’t tolerate egotistical or selfish behaviour. Be self-critical, welcome feedback, continuously experiment and seek perspectives and solutions from outside the company
- Embrace the Adventure: Yes we stole this from Airbnb! To us this means embracing challenges, use feedback and learn from failures and mistakes rather than dwell on them. Be a curious and a continuous learner, focus on bettering oneself and your team rather than protecting oneself
