- Experience leading the design of large-scale ecommerce or consumer mobile app experiences from discovery through delivery

- Experience mentoring and developing designers, setting clear performance expectations, and supporting continuous growth
- A strong understanding of accessibility, performance, and scalable design systems in mobile contexts

What the job involves
- As the Senior Product Design Manager for Android, you will lead the design strategy and execution for Etsy’s native mobile experiences
- This team shapes how buyers discover, evaluate, and purchase unique items every day — making the shopping journey intuitive, cohesive, and high-performing within the Etsy app
- You’ll guide a team responsible for delivering a consistent, high-quality buyer experience while navigating platform capabilities, evolving mobile architecture, and scalable design systems
- This is a highly collaborative leadership role reporting into Buyer Design leadership and partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Brand, and Design Systems
- This is a full-time position reporting to the Sr. Director of Product Design, Growth

- Lead with Strategy - Define and drive initiative-level design strategies across Etsy’s native app experiences, balancing user needs, technical considerations, and business goals to deliver cohesive end-to-end journeys
- Bring Clarity to Complexity - Navigate evolving product surfaces and shifting priorities. Frame ambiguous problem spaces into clear opportunities grounded in user insights and business impact
- Grow and Support Your Team - Coach designers through complex initiatives and product evolution. Foster a high-trust, inclusive environment with clear expectations around quality, accessibility, and craft excellence
- Champion Craft & Systems Thinking - Partner with Brand and Design Systems to ensure experiences are accessible, performant, and scalable across the buyer lifecycle. Drive consistency while enabling innovation
- Collaborate Strategically - Work closely with Product, Engineering, and Research leadership to translate constraints and opportunities into actionable design direction and long-term roadmap alignment
- Drive Measurable Impact - Use qualitative and quantitative insights to improve buyer confidence, conversion, engagement, and overall marketplace performance

Our take
Created as an alternative to more corporate eCommerce sites, Etsy is a peer-to-peer (P2P) website where users buy and sell handmade crafts, vintage items, art and photography. The online marketplace works similarly to Amazon and eBay, only with an emphasis on unique items rather than mass-produced merchandise.
Since its IPO in 2015, it has managed to hold its own in an increasingly competitive eCommerce industry, including from Amazon's handmade section that launched in 2015. Further, by providing sellers with ownership over pricing and branding, the site is attractive for those wanting to set up a business on an established platform.
However, the seller-side of Etsy is not without problems. A hike in transaction fees and the introduction of mandatory marketing fees for artists with high turnovers created significant discontent amongst sellers. Despite this, Etsy continues to connect artists and consumers, attracting shoppers with its message of extraordinary, handmade and affordable products.
