Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in a high growth startup environment
- An expert in Google Cloud Platform and Google Kubernetes Engine
- Strong observability/monitoring experience (Chronosphere, Sentry, DataDog, Splunk, Otel, Prometheus, etc)
- A collaborative, pragmatic, and growth-oriented mindset. We are a small but mighty team and everyone must be aligned on our goals
- The ability to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and/or organizational problems and propose thorough iterative solutions
- Experience with performance and optimization problems and a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems
- Comfort working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process
- Self-motivated, self-managing and takes ownership, with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to thrive in a remote-first organization

What the job involves
- Dandy is hiring a Senior Software Engineer II, Infrastructure to join our rapidly scaling technology organization. As a member of Dandy's Platform Engineering team, you will play a key role in the success of our team and company. You'll design and build scalable infrastructure and systems to support our rapidly growing product engineering function
- Develop and maintain infrastructure, systems, and tooling to support Dandy’s products in a secure, well-tested, and performant way
- Reinvent an analog experience and disrupt a legacy industry through novel and scalable system design
- Collaborate with Product Engineers and other stakeholders within Engineering, Product and Data to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment
- Advocate for improvements to infrastructure quality, security, and performance
- Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices
- Recognize impediments to our efficiency as a team ("technical debt"), propose and implement solutions

Dentistry, a $400B industry, has long relied on outdated practices. Dandy was created to modernize and simplify dental operations by integrating technology into every aspect of the dental practice. Its goal is to streamline workflows, making dental practices more efficient and easier to manage.
While other startups have tried to bring technology to the dental field, Dandy distinguishes itself by understanding the industry's complexity and respecting the way dentists operate. Rather than overwhelming practitioners with a complete overhaul, Dandy introduces new features gradually, such as digitizing dental labs for procedures like crowns and implants. It makes the dental experience seamless for both sides of the chair, and to date, more than 2 million people use a Dandy dental product daily.
Dandy aims to build a full operating system for dental practices, offering a "business-in-a-box" solution that allows dentists to focus on patient care while the platform handles administrative and operational tasks. While this vision has the potential to bring immense value to a field in need of innovation, the challenge lies in overcoming dentistry's resistance to change. Patience and persistence will be key as Dandy reshapes how dental professionals run their practices.
