Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software
- Full-stack proficiency across frontend, backend, APIs, and data layers
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools in a professional setting to ship real software
- Strong fundamentals in at least one modern language (Python, TypeScript, Go, or similar) with the ability to learn new ones quickly
- Experience building and integrating APIs and working with enterprise middleware or system integrations
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines
Desirable
- Experience as a founding or early engineer defining patterns and standards for a growing team
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, context engineering, and AI agent workflows beyond basic code completion
- Experience integrating enterprise business systems (HRIS, CRM, ERP)
- Exposure to GPU infrastructure or model serving in hybrid compute environments
What the job involves
- We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join as the founding engineer of a new Enterprise Software Engineering function within IT
- You’ll work directly with the Director to build internal tools, automations, and integrations that eliminate manual work and solve real operational problems across the business
- This is not a traditional enterprise IT role
- You’ll use AI-assisted development as your primary workflow, shipping production-quality software in days, not months, while establishing the technical foundations that future hires will build upon
- Over time, your highest leverage will increasingly come from defining specs, context, and reusable patterns that direct AI agents, while still writing hands-on code for the hardest problems
- Building and shipping internal tools, automations, and integrations that deliver measurable value across Finance, Operations, HR, and other business teams
- Using AI-assisted development as the default workflow, including writing specs, crafting prompts, reviewing AI-generated code, and iterating rapidly
- Defining foundational technical patterns, including coding standards, project conventions, reusable components, and context files that guide AI-driven development
- Designing and maintaining integrations between enterprise systems using APIs, middleware, and data pipelines
- Developing solutions across a hybrid environment, combining cloud application platforms with internal GPU compute for AI workloads
- Partnering with business teams in rapid prototyping sprints, then hardening prototypes into production-ready systems with testing, monitoring, and documentation
- Establishing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and quality gates for all delivered solutions
- Owning solutions end-to-end, from specification and implementation through deployment and production support
- Operating within tiered governance frameworks, applying appropriate review and compliance controls based on solution sensitivity
Our take
Crusoe is tackling one of the biggest challenges facing the digital age: the enormous energy demand of data centres and AI infrastructure. As AI models grow more powerful, they require immense computing power (and therefor electricity) to train and operate. This surge in energy use has put some pressure on power grids, driven up costs, and raised environmental concerns. Crusoe is on a mission to make this process more sustainable by finding smarter, cleaner, and more efficient ways to power the data centres that drive modern computing.
The company started out by putting wasted energy to work. Originally known as Crusoe Energy, it captured natural gas that would otherwise be burned off ("flared") at remote oil sites and used it to power modular data centres. Today, Crusoe has evolved into a major player in AI infrastructure, designing and operating large-scale data centres near renewable or stranded energy sources. It's now one of a handful of "neocloud" companies (next-generation cloud providers focused on flexible, efficient computing for AI workloads). And its facilities are helping tech giants like OpenAI handle the massive computing requirements of training advanced AI models.
Recently, Crusoe has attracted some huge investor attention, tripling its valuation to over $10B and raising $1.4B in its latest funding round. It's building OpenAI's first major US data centre campus and even experimenting with bold new frontiers. In partnership with Starcloud, Crusoe plans to deploy the world's first space-based cloud computing infrastructure, powered by solar energy and orbiting the Earth by 2027. If successful, this could redefine how and where computing happens, opening up a cleaner, virtually limitless source of energy for AI's next generation.
