Who you are
- Experience: 8+ years working with large-scale data in a modern tech environment
- SQL Expert: Proven track record writing clean, performant, and scalable queries
- Data Modeling Pro: 6+ years with Snowflake or BigQuery and advanced modeling techniques (dimensional, data vault, etc.)
- Transformation Savvy: 2+ years using dbt or Spark-based data pipelines
- Programming Skills: Proficient in Python with comfort across diverse data structures and serialization formats
- BI Knowledge: Familiarity with tools such as Metabase
- Strong Communicator: Clear, precise writer and presenter with a passion for documentation, data quality, and building scalable systems
What the job involves
- Render is seeking a Staff Analytics Engineer to architect and own the data models, pipelines, and tooling that power analytics across the company
- In this senior, high-impact role, you’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Go-to-Market teams to build a trusted, company-wide data foundation that drives strategic decisions, operational insights, and advanced experimentation
- Model & Build: Design and maintain performant, reliable data models and pipelines to enable self-service analytics, flexible querying, and advanced data science use cases
- Define the Source of Truth: Partner with stakeholders to establish clear, documented, company-wide data definitions that ensure consistent reporting and decision-making
- Advance the Platform: Develop internal tooling for auditing, validation, and discovery that makes data easy to use correctly—and difficult to misuse
- Ensure Quality & Consistency: Translate complex business logic into accurate, trustworthy datasets and champion best practices for data modeling and pipeline development
- Partner & Influence: Serve as a data steward and subject-matter expert for key business domains, collaborating with the Data Platform team to enhance scale and performance

Render was founded by Anurag Goel, one of Stripe's founding engineers. The company's developer platform allows teams to build websites and apps quickly and at scale. Render has raised impressive funding, and the capital has accelerated the development and roll-out of a number of innovative new tools and features, including a free plan for web services and databases. This will improve access to Render's platform, and help to further scale its user base.
Render's main challenge will be competing with large-scale legacy players, including the "big three": Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. However, so far Render has held its own, largely thanks to its superior flexibility, innovative modern features rolled out regularly, and competitive price. If it can maintain this, Render stands to make impressive gains in the coming years.
