Who you are

4+ years full stack development experience.
Completely full stack; strategic overview from conception to delivery of the end-to-end software architecture
Led/owned the process to scale a product or software
Worked with APIs, webhooks, and data normalisation
Experience in managing complex relational databases
User-centric design, with an eye for detail in UI/UX to create experiences that are intuitive and engaging whilst also functional
A total wizard in the stack of your choice for front and back end development

Desirable

An understanding of UK food system and ERP systems (e.g. SAP)
Worked on ML/AI based products or features

Build from Scratch 👷– Work from the ground up to help materialise our vision, building the high-level system architecture
Use Your Favourite Tools 🌟– Have a say in what technologies and tools we will use, shaping the tech stack for scalability
Ship Features That Matter ‍ – Develop essential components that help food manufacturers reduce food waste
Performance Optimisation 🐞 – Ensure our platform is fast, stable, and ready to grow, tracking down bugs and fine-tuning performance
Bring Designs to Life 💻 – Work side-by-side with our design team to turn creative visions into smooth, user-friendly tech solutions
Work with high-scale data intensive APIs 🔗– Designing and building ERP integrations for scale, streamlining data flows

Application process

1. 30 min video call with Founder + one member of team
2. Technical Task (2-5h pre work), followed by a 1h technical interview
3. Cultural interview with both founders and core team members

Our take

The global food supply chain suffers from 7 times more food waste at manufacturing stages than at retail, resulting in 40% of food produced never making it to market due to rigid supply chains and over ordering. Wonki Collective’s B2B SaaS platform remedies this by helping manufacturers manage their surplus stock, ensuring that high-quality ingredients remain in the food supply chain.

The Wonki Collective’s API platform automatically analyses connected food suppliers and manufacturers for wasted resources, use-by dates and the necessary health and safety documentation. It then processes this information and uses a matchmaking tool to discover the best channels for the reselling, reusing and redistribution of unused and waste materials.

Though a small and young company, The Wonki Collective has discovered a glaring hole in a market desperately requiring a shake-up. If Wonki Collective were to see widespread national adoption, the positive environmental impact could be massive. Here’s to hoping it can scale its efforts and draw in food manufacturing partners and customers.
