Who you are
- If you’re passionate about data analytics, enjoy closing deals, and are ready to make a splash in a fast-growing startup, we’d love to hear from you!
- 5+ years of experience in SaaS sales, preferably with data analytics or cloud-based software
- Strong understanding of data analytics software and how it benefits businesses
- A proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas and driving revenue growth
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment where you’ll wear many feathers (hats)
- Strong communication and negotiation skills—you know how to get a deal to fly
- A self-starter mentality with the drive to be one of the first on the ground, building something from the ground up
- A passion for data and solving real-world business challenges with cutting-edge tech
- Location: While we have hubs in San Francisco, Seattle and Amsterdam - we want this founding team to be located together in NYC
What the job involves
- As we expand our nest, we’re on the lookout for a savvy Founding Account Executive to take the lead in building and scaling our sales efforts
- Quack up new business: Prospect, engage, and close new customers, bringing them into the MotherDuck flock
- Lead the sales pond: Own the entire sales cycle from initial outreach through to closing, ensuring our customers see the full potential of MotherDuck’s data analytics platform
- Build relationships: Foster strong connections with key decision-makers and stakeholders to understand their challenges and show how we can help them soar
- Collaborate with the flock: Work closely with marketing, product, partners and customer success teams to provide feedback from customers and keep refining our offerings
- Set the pace: As a founding member of our sales team, you’ll help shape sales strategies, processes, and the broader go-to-market approach
- Spread your wings: Identify growth opportunities and help build a scalable sales organization for long-term success
Our take
In the increasingly complex landscape of data analytics, the challenges faced in managing and extracting meaningful insights from large datasets are on the rise. Conventional approaches, often involving distributed architectures and petabyte-scale data solutions, can be cumbersome, expensive, and less user-friendly for the majority of users who do not operate at such a large scale.
MotherDuck, recognizing this issue, has emerged as a solution provider with its serverless, user-friendly data analytics platform. Leveraging the power of the open-source database DuckDB, MotherDuck aims to simplify the scale-up approach to SQL analytics, offering a faster, more cost-effective alternative for the 95% of analysts who do not require petabyte-scale data solutions.
Recently securing funding, the company is now well-positioned to further enhance its platform and expand its user base. As MotherDuck continues to collaborate closely with the DuckDB team and integrate user feedback for enhancements, the company is also poised to play a pivotal role in the evolution of serverless data analytics.
