Mechanical Design Engineer Intern, CHAOS Industries

• The ideal candidate is technically curious, comfortable working with hardware, able to communicate clearly, and motivated to learn quickly in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment
• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or any related field
• Must be a rising senior at the time of the internship and return to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter/semester
• Experience working in an academic project team or laboratory
• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program
• CAD skills (any platform) and ability to create high-quality engineering drawings that meet common industry standards
• Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills
• High competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principles
• US Person status is required as this position needs access to export-controlled data

• CHAOS is seeking Mechanical Design Interns for Summer 2027! This is a paid, in-person, 12-week internship role
• You will design and build prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into production
• What you may work on:
• Own a scoped mechanical design project from concept through prototype, with mentorship from a senior engineer
• Build and iterate on 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings for structures, frames, mounts, enclosures, and mechanisms
