Who you are

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with a strong Software Engineering background and AI Engineering experience to join our team
Strong software engineering background (Python + C#, PHP, or Java experience)
Exposure to distributed systems and managing services at scale
Experience building or deploying ML/LLM solutions (e.g., fine-tuning, RAG pipelines, model evaluation, production APIs)
Understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices (REST, SOLID, GRASP, GIT, CI/CD, DDD, TDD, Clean, Agile, etc)
Familiarity with data pipelines, model orchestration, and prompt engineering
Growth mindset and comfort in a fast-changing environment
English fluency (B2+)
Nobody ticks all those boxes above, but willingness to learn is strongly valued here!

Desirable

Experience with AI/ML tools (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.)
Knowledge of RAG pipelines and MLOps practices
Cloud platform expertise (GCP, AWS, Azure)
Exposure to other OOP stacks (.NET, PHP)

What the job involves

We’re laying the groundwork for the future of AI at Docplanner—scalable systems, multi-agent architecture, MCP servers and seamless integration into our products
The AI Platform team is a part of the Internal Platform area and nowadays consists of 2 Platform Engineers and 2 Software Engineers
As AI needs are growing, we are intensely growing that team to be “The Magnificent Seven”
The team is accountable for 2 main objectives:
Designing, building and maintaining the company's AI infrastructure. Ensuring high availability, scalability, security and cost efficiency
Adopt new technologies like MCP and A2A
What are the challenges in the team?
Dynamic environment with rapid changes. Both AI technology and business around it are changing super fast, and we need to keep up with our goals. For example, OpenAI announcing Apps SDK changed our quarter goals
Working with different technologies. Main backend technologies are C# and .NET , but for many AI projects we are using Python. And all of that connected with big distributed system with multiple services
Design and implement scalable systems for AI Agents, MCP, and emerging architectures
Adopt new technologies coming up with AI
Build internal tools that empower product teams across Docplanner
Ensure reliability, security, and cost efficiency of AI infrastructure
Work cross-functionally to accelerate AI adoption in our products

Healthcare platform Docplanner has become a major player in the European healthtech market in the decade since it was founded. The company offers a suite of administrative tools for over 22M patients and around 2M doctors worldwide, including workflow digitisation and appointment booking services. The company currently operate in 13 countries, hit Unicorn status in 2021, and has been riding a recent wave of digital transformation and workforce overburdening in the healthcare sector which has spurred on demand for precisely the kind of services they provide. So it’s safe to say business is going well.

What is most compelling about Docplanner’s business journey has been its long-brewing competition with their direct competitor, the fellow Unicorn and better-funded Doctolib. The tête-à-tête with this French/German rival has seen both parties making aggressive European expansion with national acquisitions - Doctolib in Italy, France, and Germany; Docplanner in Turkey, Poland, Spain, and Latin America. With Docplanner’s 2021 acquisition of German parallel platform Jameda, however, they are making moves on Doctolib’s home turf. The company has also acquired MyDr, a leading Polish tech solutions provider.

These broad consolidation moves represent a maturation of the healthtech market which will serve both competitors well. Docplanner is certainly a key and aggressive contender in this race - and this company isn't going anywhere any time soon.
