Who you are
- We're looking for an exceptional accountant with multinational public company experience to help us solve complex GAAP accounting matters and ready the business’ financial reporting for the rigor of public market review
- The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong ability to provide meaningful reviews, feedback, and whitepapers on a broad array of matters and have strong project management skills
- To be successful, the Director of Technical Accounting must have the interpersonal skills to work directly with founders, CFOs, and external auditors and the organizational skills to manage and prioritize multiple inquiries and meet deadlines
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, and CPA required
- 8+ years of experience in accounting; including Big 4 public accounting experience and experience with financial reporting in a public company
- Extensive experience with complex and significant business combinations, M&A transaction and purchase accounting, Pro Forma financial statements, accounting policy alignment, and goodwill impairment testing preferred
- Extensive knowledge of SEC Reporting, US GAAP and internal control process required; some international exposure is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to research and interpret accounting guidance, draft accounting memos to support conclusions, and coordinate with external auditors to ensure alignment on positions
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently and as committed; able to multi-task and adapt quickly to a dynamic work environment
- Experience working in the technology / software sector, or within a rapidly scaling global organization is a plus
What the job involves
- Reports to: Chief Accounting Officer
- This teammate will lead the implementation and maintenance of a system of internal controls that will ensure financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all new or proposed accounting standards within FASB, AICPA, PCAOB, EITF, SEC, and other international standards
- Serve as the technical resource on GAAP and SEC rules and regulations and engage with business partners to ensure all relevant accounting issues and complex transactions are identified; and assist in structuring transactions to maximize operating and accounting goals. Support the finance and accounting team with timely and insightful research, documentation, and guidance on technical accounting matters, including complex and non-standard transactions
- Follow emerging accounting issues and proactively analyze their impact on the Company’s results and financial position and implement new accounting standards
- Manage accounting and reporting for M&A, equity, stock-based compensation, leasing, and revenue for compliance with relevant ASC guidance
- Assist with the preparation/review of audit schedules for annual audit, and lead preparation and review of financial statements, footnote disclosures, MD&A, and other relevant reporting matters
- Manage any potential SEC Filings such as registration statements, 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and Proxy statements and supporting documentation
- Prepare cash flows, stockholders’ roll forward, EPS calculation, stock-based compensation, and accounting for non-routine transactions
- Develop and update the risk and control assessment, staying informed of new and emerging risks as well as key control issues, trends and developments
- Manage the reporting team, focusing on training and development, performance assistance and offering growth opportunities
- Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades and the implementation of ERP software

It helps that its tools are undoubtedly effective and valued by knowledge professionals: the company counts about 85% of the S&P 100 as customers and is trusted by J.P.Morgan, Microsoft, Credit Suisse and Google, among other major enterprises.
Having raised a large amount of funding over 2022 and 2023, AlphaSense has moved quickly to double down on its expansion in European markets, opening an office in Berlin to support this. With 2024 seeing investment from Singaporean EDBI, it is now setting its sights on the Asia-Pacific region. As business intelligence will remain key for enterprises as they compete for market share, AlphaSense is well-placed for additional future growth.
