Who you are
- The ideal candidate thrives in fast-moving environments, enjoys problem-solving through data, and is excited to grow their expertise in the crypto and DeFi space
- 3–5 years of experience in data analysis or analytics roles in a tech or related industry
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with experience in data modeling, ETL, and business intelligence tools
- Proven ability to structure analyses, interpret data critically, and communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and time management
- High curiosity, willingness to learn, and openness to feedback
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Interest in or experience with crypto, DeFi, or blockchain data is a plus
- Familiarity with modern data stacks (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow, Superset/Preset) is an advantage
What the job involves
- The Senior Data Analyst will work across both Across and UMA, helping to shape and scale data-driven decision-making
- This role blends strong analytical and technical skills with an eagerness to dive into the details, working directly with data to uncover trends, opportunities, and insights that guide product and business strategy
- You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and leadership teams to build analyses, dashboards, and models that make data accessible and actionable
- Collaborate with product and business teams to identify key questions and deliver clear, actionable analyses and dashboards that inform decisions and measure impact
- Partner with data engineering to onboard and model new data sources. Write SQL and Python scripts to extract, clean, and prepare data for analysis and reporting
- Work alongside Product, Engineering, and Operations to translate data into insights—surfacing patterns, opportunities, and risks early
- Ensure the data used for reporting is accurate, well-structured, and aligned with business priorities
- Leverage (or develop) a solid understanding of crypto, DeFi, and interoperability to contextualize data and support hypothesis-driven exploration
Our take
Risk Labs is the foundation and core team behind UMA, Across. The company has set out to build a decentralized blockchain ecosystem, rooted in verifiable truth and transparency, making crypto more usable, accessible, and efficient. UMA was one of the earliest protocols to emerge within the decentralized finance sector and it (along with Across) is supported by the second biggest crypto network, Ethereum.
While Risk Labs itself has not raised funding since 2018, efforts have been made to raise capital for its other entities. These rounds have been very successful, such as Across' $10M raise in late 2022. It’s significant that well-known early-stage VC Two Sigma Ventures has invested in the entire umbrella of companies.
The company has nearly tripled in size since 2020, and remains focused on hiring as it is set to roll out new product launches and upgrades to its projects (such as UMA 2.0).
