Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including:
- 4+ years in investment banking, private equity, growth equity, strategic finance, or consulting (with material CDD / Private Equity experience)
- 6–8+ years in Strategic Finance, FP&A, or BizOps (with a material data / financial focus) roles at a GTM or consumer-facing company
- Deep expertise in GTM unit economics and growth efficiency metrics, including a strong understanding of acquisition funnels, cohort analysis, and CLV
- Ability to operate at both strategic and highly detailed levels
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional partners
- Motivated self-starter with a track record of success and a proven ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks while hitting deadlines; desire to own and drive projects from Day 1
- Stellar academic record with a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.)
- SQL knowledge preferred
- Prior experience with Corp Dev / Biz Dev preferred

What the job involves
- Ethos is looking for an ambitious self-starter to join our Finance & Strategy team
- The Senior Director, GTM will own financial strategy and performance management for our GTM business
- You will serve as a financial thought partner to leaders across Marketing, Product, and Sales, with a specific focus on GTM modeling, user acquisition, profitability, and new business evaluation
- You will also be responsible for interfacing with external partners through either a Corp Dev or BizDev lens in support of these objectives
- This role is ideal for a data-driven finance leader with deep experience in consumer unit economics, scaling GTM businesses, and who is willing to dive deep into the data and operations of the business
- This role will have high visibility across the executive team and will require you to solve the most complex, interesting challenges of a rapidly-scaling startup

- Own financial planning and forecasting for the GTM business
- Drive our efforts to better serve new customer segments, launch new insurance products, and/or partnership offerings
- Apply business judgment and financial insights to drive decision making related to unit economics, customer acquisition, operations, core business expansion, and new opportunities
- Improve the speed and efficiency of our growth by collaborating closely with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams
- Apply a data-driven analytical approach to influence decision making and support company leadership in evaluating strategic initiatives
- Develop and monitor critical financial performance metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders

Ethos was founded to increase the transparency of life insurance, making it accessible and affordable to all. The company wants to add openness to the process; losing a loved one is hard enough before one even considers financial implications, particularly with the loss of a primary earner.
Ethos uses predictive technology to rapidly quote life insurance rates and verify an applicant’s medical information. This expedited process allows most users to secure life cover on the same day they apply, a process which normally takes a number of weeks. The company works with some of the biggest providers in the industry, including Legal & General America, AAA Life and Ameritas Life Insurance Corp.
Ethos has been one of the more heavily publicized of the recent wave of insurtech companies, with investors such as Google as well as celebrities Will Smith and Jay Z, taking its valuation to over $2B and putting it in a great spot for future growth.
