Who you are
- 5+ years of Data or Full Stack Software Engineering experience with a proven track record of delivering production systems
- Expertise in our modern tech stack: Python/Flask, TypeScript/React, Tailwind CSS, Data Warehouses, and tools for data and AI
- Experience participating in a rotating on-call shift, with the ability to investigate, triage, and resolve immediate production issues
- A strong ownership mindset – you take responsibility for initiatives and see them through to completion
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly prototype and iterate based on tight feedback loops
- Comfort operating in ambiguous, high-autonomy environments while driving clarity and progress
- Curiosity and practical experience with AI and LLM technologies, with a focus on their responsible use in production systems
- Excellent communication skills – you ask the right questions, align stakeholders, and make complex ideas clear
- A collaborative approach – you work effectively with teammates, welcome feedback, and contribute to team success
- Strong Database/Data Warehouse experience a plus

What the job involves
- We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of DataOS
- DataOS is the operating system for data and documents in asset-backed lending, a $5 trillion market ripe for modernization
- Our platform helps standardize, verify, and store critical data and documents in a central repository serving both borrowers and lenders
- As a Data Engineer, you will own end-to-end development of high-impact features across the stack, from design through launch
- You’ll work on client-facing, mission-critical functionality, including AI-driven features that accelerate document review and streamline data verification
- Own full-stack features end-to-end: from design to deployment, ensuring they solve customer needs and drive business value
- Build systems that streamline the parsing, standardization, and movement of complex financial data
- Deliver client-facing and high-impact features, including responsible use of AI/LLM technologies to automate workflows while maintaining quality and compliance
- Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Leadership to shape our roadmap, working directly with your Tech Lead and having access to the C-Suite
- Invest in developer experience: build and refine dev tools that keep the team productive and velocity high
- Partner with cross-functional teams to clarify scope, validate client expectations, and ensure impactful delivery
Our take
Whilst tech innovations have made applying for a loan far quicker and easier, the next step in the process - the management of the loan - is far more complex and still comparatively archaic in its organisation. Originators and lenders use spreadsheets, emails and FTP folders to manage their lending relationships, rendering the process inefficient and prone to errors. Setpoint automates the debt facility management process for lenders.
Founded in 2021, the company claims 98% time saving for lenders, automating data ingestions, calculations and reporting workflows whilst its AI engine computes optimal asset allocation to max ROI. Financial liquidity is increased through access to third-party reviews and certifications, compliantly accelerating capital access. In short, Setpoint streamlines the second, more oblique stage of the lending relationship.
Focused on the property market, Setpoint’s tech could be expanded to other markets. Its focus on real estate, however, has helped it achieve several impressive funding rounds and a 6x year-over-year revenue growth.
