Who you are
- The role is ideal for a tech enthusiast who's driven and interested in performance, scale, and big data
- A strong foundation in software engineering principles and deep knowledge of a high-level programming language. C# and Go are used heavily in this product
- Experience working with distributed cloud systems, particularly involving containers. We run on Kubernetes in GCP
- Strong knowledge of NoSQL database technologies (e.g. MongoDB, Elastic)
- Experience designing algorithmic software for scale, performance, and high availability
- Previous experience of being the primary technical leader in a team, including collaboration with other teams and stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to adapt your style to different audiences
- A passion for promoting engineering excellence in those around you through coaching and guiding individuals, and the team as a whole, to influence change
What the job involves
- You will be the Lead Engineer in one of our multi-disciplinary product squads
- This is an exciting and impactful role that provides the opportunity to heavily influence the technical growth of our team and products at Loqate
- Take ownership of the technical design, delivery, and documentation of the product as we scale to support millions of transactions per day. This role has a mix of both hands-on development as well as lead/architecture work
- You will bring your passion for technology, experience of developing great software, and constant desire to improve
- Raise the bar for technical standards, performance, reliability, and operational excellence
- There is no line management responsibility with this role - we believe that to technically lead, you need capacity to focus on technical challenges and as such we have pulled line management out into a separate role
- Mentor and coach others to help them be the best they can be
- Care about agility as much you care for scalability and availability. Continuous deployment keeps us focused on incremental releases
- Take responsibility for platform health and observability, using our own data to understand user behaviour and drive product development
