Who you are
- You’re comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and ambiguity, and you’re great at turning complexity into clarity
- You’re an excellent project manager who can move comfortably between strategic priorities and tactical execution, keeping the important details on track

What the job involves
- We’re waving goodbye to the complicated and confusing ways of traditional banking. Over the last 10 years, Monzo has grown from a prepaid card into a much broader range of products, including personal and business bank accounts, joint accounts, accounts for 16 - 17 year olds, a free kids account and credit cards - with plenty more to come
- Product is at the heart of Monzo’s long-term success and our ambition to change people’s relationship with money. Working closely with Engineering, Design, Research, Data and teams across the business, our Product team sets Monzo’s product vision and strategy and drives its execution
- We’re a scaling team with lots to accomplish and some big questions to answer. As Chief of Staff to our Chief Product Officer, you’ll work closely with our CPO and Product Leadership Team, helping shape our product vision and strategy, seed new initiatives and build effective ways of working that help our Product organisation thrive
- Helping formulate and drive key projects for our Chief Product Officer, from structuring our product roadmap and setting organisational goals to evolving our product strategy
- Leading strategic and ad-hoc projects for the CPO and Product Leadership Team, including initiatives that improve how effectively and quickly our teams can deliver
- Staying close to our performance data, understanding the underlying drivers and creating a regular cadence for reporting, including coordinating our monthly business reviews
- Collaborating across Monzo to unblock complex challenges around priorities, dependencies and headcount, and helping teams make better decisions when there are competing priorities and stakeholders
- Conceiving, executing and supporting initiatives across Product team engagement, performance management and discipline progression
- Making sure our CPO is brilliantly prepared for key meetings and interactions with regulators, investors, journalists, Board members and employee forums
- Preparing and sharing major communications, and at times representing the CPO in key forums across Monzo

- Chat with our CPO, Andy (30 mins) – A conversation with our CPO to learn more about your experience and how you’d approach the role
- Experience Loop (~2.5 hours) – This stage consists of three separate interviews that usually happen across 1–3 days: a Case Study, Leadership and Values interview, and a practical task (with no take-home preparation). If you reach this stage, your Recruiter will have a 15-minute chat with you beforehand to help you prepare
- This process should take around 4–6 weeks – your schedule is really important to us, so we promise to be as flexible as possible!

Monzo is a challenger bank that fully operates online and offers a full range of current, savings, business accounts, and more. The speed of the challenger banks to provide a great experience has been impressive, and the number of competitors appearing has proven the consumer desire for innovation.
Monzo remains one of the popular online banks, with more than 6 million active users. The company faces competition from more traditional banks, such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, which have launched their own digital banks. However, the new technologies that the company is built on enable it to expand quickly (with fewer issues) than the incumbent players' offerings.
With an increasing amount of people switching banks, the company's ever-expanding suite of banking and financial services (such as its buy-now-pay-later offering) has resulted in Monzo receiving the second-highest net switching gains among digital challenger banks (just behind Starling).
The company launched in the US market in early 2022, partnering with Sutton Bank to provide accounts there. After several years focused on narrowing its losses, Monzo hit profitability in the first two months of 2023. It is now moving forward with an IPO, targeting a £6-7 billion valuation
