Who you are
- 8+ years of experience in technical program/product management, software engineering, systems engineering or related discipline
- Consistent track record of shipping products with broad customer impact
- Proficiency in Spanish and Portuguese
- You have a track record of providing exceptional program management during all phases of software development from kick-off to ship, demonstrating critical thinking and thought leadership throughout
- You are not satisfied with just delivering programs on time—you are discerning about product/infrastructure architecture and can lead technical discussions. Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve systemic issues
- Experience operating autonomously and leading large-scale efforts across multiple teams and functions, with stakeholders in different disciplines across time zones
- Strong customer service focus, with deep empathy for external stakeholders such as financial partners and regulators
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to build relationships, and collaborate with diverse cross-functional teams
- Demonstrable experience with agile software development methodologies and productivity tools
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering or a related field
What the job involves
- As a TPM, you will play a key role leading Global initiatives with a focus on LATAM (see language proficiency requirements below)
- You will be responsible for driving programs with a high degree of complexity across multiple engineering and product teams spanning Stripe
- You will be an active contributor to Stripe’s overall global strategy, drive technical decision making and identify alignment gaps across Stripe’s product portfolio
- Your impact is felt within and outside the company
- Drive functional and technical delivery of key team, org, and company-wide initiatives
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design, scope, and shepherd features
- Create functional specs, project / release plans, and roadmaps
- Own and execute multiple software engineering programs simultaneously
- Help drive product decisions to align with higher company initiatives
- Help influence peers / managers and build consensus while dealing with ambiguity
- Guide and manage the usage of agile methodologies to simplify project delivery
Our take
Stripe, nowadays a FinTech giant, spent the first few years since its founding building up its payments business, which primarily consisted of providing an API to eCommerce businesses so that they could easily integrate a payment option in their apps or websites, where before there was none.
More recently, Stripe has started to accelerate its growth with a significantly larger range of financial services including cash advances and credit cards. They also plan to build incorporation services, fraud protection, and more, diversifying its revenue away from payments and differentiating itself from its competitors.
To further expand its position, the company is extending its services to countries with vast customer potential, including Brazil, Japan and India. It is also partnering with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT - a win-win collaboration that is monetising OpenAI’s flagship products and at the same time enhancing Stripe with GPT-4, as it moves forward with intentions to "build the payments foundation for tomorrow's AI economy."
