Role

Who you are

  • 1+ year of experience in marketing, social media management, or video content creation
  • Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Canva, and video editing software (e.g., CapCut)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Vietnamese (Native/Bilingual proficiency) and English (proficient)
  • Deep understanding of Vietnamese culture, food trends, and community dynamics
  • Passion for food and cooking, with expertise in crafting and sharing Vietnamese recipes
  • Hands-on experience with influencer marketing and Facebook Community Groups
  • Background in eCommerce or food delivery is a plus

What the job involves

  • Weee! is seeking a Marketing Specialist for the Vietnamese Team who is passionate about creating effective new users and delivering community building initiatives
  • This role will be closely collaborating with Merchandising to produce best-in-class marketing content via online community, influencer partnership and in-app storefront to drive user revenue
  • He/she will also support cross-functional teams to provide Vietnamese translations to enhance our user shopping experience and engage with the Vietnamese audience
  • Oversee and grow the Weee! Vietnamese Facebook Group to increase engagement and user acquisition through social sharing and incentive share programs
  • Create compelling UGC to promote product collections across unofficial social media communities and Facebook groups
  • Plan and execute online community events, leveraging opportunities within social media communities and Facebook groups
  • Identify, engage and manage relationships with social media influencers, targeting Vietnamese-speaking and 1st-generation Vietnamese users
  • Stay updated on food trends and community preferences to ensure content is current, relevant, and resonates with the target audience
  • Relay community feedback to internal stakeholders to improve products and services
  • Design and optimize in-app pages, website landing pages, emails, and push notifications for the Vietnamese storefront, promoting weekly deals, seasonal campaigns, and evergreen collections
  • Collaborate with the merchandising and marketing teams to curate customer-oriented content and SKUs for Vietnamese users
  • Deliver accurate Vietnamese translation requests from cross-functional teams (Marketing, Product, Design) to enhance user shopping experience
  • Provide weekly performance reports, summarizing insights, findings, and actionable recommendations for improvement

Our take

It's often hard to find foreign or imported food ingredients in the United States. Weee is an online delivery platform aiming to address this by offering groceries and products for Asian Americans and underserved communities across North America. CEO Larry Lui founded the company after having difficulty finding Chinese ingredients in local stores when he moved to the U.S.

Since its launch in 2015, Weee caters to approximately 300,000 households in the U.S and fulfils thousands of orders a day. Originally targeting Asian consumers, the company now brands itself as an “ethnic e-grocer” in a move to attract the United States' 60 million Hispanic consumers as well. This diversification is in response to growing competition in the Asian grocery space from the likes of e-grocers Chowbus and Umamicart and retail chains H Mart and 99 Ranch Market.

The ethnic grocery market is expected to reach more than $460 billion by 2030. Weee plan to grow into this market by launching its service in over 30 additional North American cities over the next three years, expanding into the Canadian market as well. Further, 2022 funding will be used to tap into new cultural cuisines and scale development in AI and warehouse automation.
