Who you are
- 2+ years of experience working in a similar role at a law firm or in-house at a studio or network legal or business affairs department required
- Undergraduate degree preferred
- Comprehensive proficiency with cloud-based document and database systems including Microsoft Office programs, video conferencing software, and other legal software
- Effective organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills are required
- Strong time management skills (proven abilities to prioritize tasks, multitask, meet deadlines proactively and reliably) and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
- Professional demeanor and the ability to be discreet and diplomatic, maintaining confidentiality at all times
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills and emotional intelligence are essential
- Ability to build and maintain business relationships internally and externally and be calm and flexible under pressure and amidst changing priorities. Working independently and also collaboratively, to be flexible, dependable and results-oriented are crucial abilities for success in this role
- Bring a cheerful, team-oriented esprit de corps, a proactive ‘can-do’ mindset, and a genuine passion for entertainment
What the job involves
- The Executive Legal Assistant will provide a full range of administrative support to a Vice President and two Senior Counsels who are part of a team handling a wide variety of legal matters related to the development and production of scripted programming for HBO & HBO Max Series, Limited Series, and Films
- The successful candidate will work closely and collaboratively in a fast-paced, exciting entertainment production environment with the department’s attorneys, paralegals, assistants, and colleagues across HBO & HBO Max, as well as our production partners and talent representatives
- This individual must be proactive and able to prioritize well while balancing ever-changing needs in a demanding television production environment
- It is an essential function of this position that the work be performed from the Company’s offices, pursuant to the Company’s hybrid office policies, in order to provide real-time, in-person support to the department, fostering seamless coordination and collaboration across creative and operational teams
- Executive Support – Provides a full range of administrative support including preparing, proofreading, and redlining legal documents, including drafting contracts and correspondence
- Assists with meeting preparation and presentations
- Provides a professional, warm and resourceful telephone presence (placing, receiving and troubleshooting calls for direct supervisors) and courteous e-mail correspondence on behalf of executive clients
- Contract Administration and Filing – Maintains development, production, and other paper and digital files, and keeps project filing current using departmental tools
- Follows up on outstanding contracts and prepares documents for execution, processes and distributes various documents, and updates various reports
- Calendar Management – Maintains Outlook calendar and organizes meetings
- This individual must be able to effectively coordinate the executives’ schedules to ensure timely responses and coordination with various productions and other departments to ensure meetings and presentations are executed seamlessly
- Departmental Tasks – Provides back-up support to other executives and assistants within the department as needed
- Processes outside counsel bills in a timely manner
- Provides general assistance with miscellaneous departmental tasks
- Travel and Expense Management – Makes travel arrangements and submits expenses for executive clients in a timely manner

It is a leader in the creation, production, distribution, licensing, and marketing of content, with Warner Bros alone boasting a huge library – more than 100,000 hours of programming – before the companies were joined. WBD’s portfolio includes Discovery Channel, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Discovery+, HBO Max, and franchises like “Batman” and “Harry Potter”.
Both of the company’s previous businesses have operated throughout the digitisation of the media space. David Zaslav, CEO of WBD, headed Discovery during its expansion into digital media, to make it a “content company” over a “cable company”. The recent focus for Warner Bros has been on next-gen distribution efforts, expanding the availability of its content across platforms and devices to reach the modern viewer. The new company has plans to migrate to one tech stack, which will require extensive retooling, as well as exploring cost-saving automation opportunities for its operations.
Since the merger, the new giant that is Warner Bros Discovery has had a shaky start, forcing the company to wind down operations and cut back on content, which included the very public scrapping of the “Batgirl” movie. However, it now seems the company may have been ahead of the curve, as a wider trend of cutbacks has been seen from peers in the space. This early move, combined with a hyper-focus on cash generation, seeks to establish WBD as an outperformer in an industry on the downturn.
