Landing AI offers manufacturers a visual inspection system that identifies product defects across a range of industries including automotive, electronics and pharmaceuticals. Crucially, the company is focusing on training its AI with high quality data, as opposed to high volumes of data (which most industrial companies don’t have access to).
Though Landing AI was founded in 2017, it took until 2020 to release its flagship product, but it had already been generating plenty of excitement due to the reputation of founder Andrew Ng.
Ng is considered one of the AI ecosystem’s leading figures – a professor of Computer Science at Stanford, and serial tech entrepreneur who led Google’s Deep Learning project Google Brain back in 2012.
Thanks to the respect his name draws, as well as the massive growth potential of his company, Landing AI has had little trouble securing major capital investment as it looks to continue its scale up.
