What the job involves

  • We're looking for an experienced tech recruiter who would join the Hiring team on a 12 month fixed term contract and help us source and hire talented and diverse people
  • Helping us hire the right people, across Monzo
  • Figuring out how best to do that
  • Helping support more junior members of the team in being the best recruiters they can be
  • You’ll work with Hiring Managers to structure and run great hiring processes
  • Our hiring managers are often busy team leads and executives. They’ll need your help to identify what skills they’re looking for and how best to assess these
  • You’ll be confident challenging their thinking and asking the right questions to figure this out. You’ll own everything about the hiring process from beginning to end, and be skilled at convincing candidates to join us
  • You’ll care deeply about diversity and inclusiveness, and giving candidates an amazing experience
  • You’ll know where to find the right candidates from a range of backgrounds and have ideas about how to make sure they feel welcome at Monzo
  • And once we’ve decided we want to hire someone, you’ll move mountains in the background to make it an effortless, pleasant process, and keep that excitement burning
  • You’ll be passionate about making processes work better
  • We constantly refine our hiring processes to make them simpler and more effective. You’ll use data to work out what’s going well and where things could be better, and share your findings with other members of the hiring team so we can all improve

  • Our interview process involves 3 main stages:
  • 30 minute Recruiter Call
  • Initial Call with our a member of the team
  • 2-3 interviews
  • Our average process takes around 2-3 weeks but we will always work around your availability

Our take

Monzo is a challenger bank that fully operates online and offers a full range of current, savings, business accounts, and more. The speed of the challenger banks to provide a great experience has been impressive, and the number of competitors appearing has proven the consumer desire for innovation.

Monzo remains one of the popular online banks, with more than 6 million customer active users. The company faces competition as more traditional banks, such as Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, have launched their own digital banks. However, the new technologies that the company is built on enable it to expand quickly (with fewer issues) than the incumbent players' offerings.

With an increasing amount of people switching banks, the company's ever-expanding suite of banking and financial services (such as its buy-now-pay-later offering) has resulted in Monzo receiving the second-highest net switching gains among digital challenger banks (just behind Starling).

After setting U.S. expansion plans aside in 2020, the company launched in the U.S. market in early 2022, partnering with Sutton Bank to provide its U.S. accounts. After several years focused on narrowing its losses, Monzo hit profitability in the first two months of 2023. In the same year, 2 million new customers joined, tallying its customer base at 9 million in 2024.
