- Deep expertise with PostgreSQL and advanced SQL skills. You are comfortable writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and handling integrations across a variety of different database systems
- Experience architecting robust 3rd party integrations, ensuring data consistency and reliability when communicating with external APIs
- Familiarity with the React ecosystem (or similar frameworks like Vue/Angular), with the ability to contribute to the frontend of our full-stack applications when necessary
- Confidence in system architecture with a focus on scaling data pipelines and managing high-volume data ingestion
- Confidence in microservices and system design
- Confidence with Docker for local development and remote deployment via Helm to Kubernetes
- Experience with AWS managed services (e.g., S3, API Gateway, SNS/SQS)
- Familiarity with Terraform or similar IaC patterns

What the job involves
- The Nova team is building a “single pane of glass” for investigators. The purpose is to connect the investigator to the many disparate sources of data they already have access to in order to make it easier to “connect the dots” and build a picture around their case work
- The technical challenges to enable these tools are diverse and sophisticated
- The team needs a strong engineer to build integrations to the many data sources as well as build stronger bindings to the overall Flock Software Platform
- Our engineers work directly with our customers and are able to react with high value and often real life impacting results

- The First 30 Days:
- Meet with stakeholders

Our take
Public vehicle surveillance provides valuable insights to emergency services for the prevention of crime, but bringing information together to create leads is difficult. There's no standardised system for inter-city vehicle surveillance, and this makes it difficult for communities and law enforcement services to work together.
Flock Safety provides surveillance equipment that aims to improve the abilities of law enforcement and homeowner associations to communicate data with each other. The company focuses on vehicle surveillance, innovating on existing technology by using machine learning to categorise vehicles by color, license plate, state, and other data points.
Whilst automated surveillance equipment is used daily within federal police forces, Flock Safety builds technology systems that provide a means for smaller law enforcement agencies to quantify and share surveillance data easily.
