Role
Who you are
- Experience working with traded energy assets and revenue collection
- Project management experience
- An accountancy qualification (ACA/FCA strongly preferred)
- Good understanding of the settlements process
- Experience of the Elexon portal
- Resilience, an enquiring mind, and a can-do attitude
- Good understanding of financial systems, ideally with implementation experience
- Enthusiasm and experience for developing new processes and problem solving

What the job involves
- The imminent start of operations has created the opportunity for an ambitious financial controller with experience of traded energy assets to join our team to ensure that revenues are maximised and efficiently collected
- You will be the Finance lead in a new delivery team comprised of the Head of Trading & Analytics, the Chief Business Development Officer and The Operations Director. External stakeholders include Goldman Sach, NESO and Centrica
- As part of a small but growing Finance team who are committed to supporting the company’s rapid growth plans and green energy goal, you will work alongside the Group Accountant and the Head of FP&A, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer based in London
- There are initially no direct reports in this role but where a gap is identified, eg. in settlements, you will be responsible for scoping the requirements and hiring if appropriate
- Create and lead the delivery of the revenue project plan
- Create and own the overall Metre to Cash Process
- Scope the responsibilities and tasks for revenue collection and income reconciliation
- Produce job description for any additional roles eg. product controller
- Create the appropriate data structure and systematic financial controls within SAPbyDesign (We have outsourced SAP BD support) and other IT systems used in the process
- Scope ongoing master data requirements
- Create any necessary registrations and portal access
- Produce short term and long-term revenue and cash flow forecasts (with analyst support)
- Write policy for revenue recognition (consistent with FRS102/IFRS)
- Provide audit papers to support revenue recognition
- Assist with year-end audit and statutory accounts preparation
- Provide role model and coaching to Group Accountant and Revenue Analysts

As the world shifts toward cleaner energy, the demand for reliable, sustainable power is only growing. Wind and solar energy are booming, but their output can be unpredictable (sunlight doesn't always shine and the wind doesn't always blow). And this makes storing energy for when it's needed a critical part of building a zero-carbon future.
Highview Power is tackling this challenge with long-duration energy storage using liquid air. Essentially, their system captures excess renewable energy, cools air until it becomes liquid, and stores it safely for hours, days, or even weeks. So, when electricity is needed, the liquid air is warmed to drive turbines, generating power without producing any emissions. Their plants are scalable, reliable, and can be built almost anywhere, making renewable energy easier to access.
Recently, Highview hit an important milestone by raising £130M to build a new facility in Scotland. The plant will create a "stability island" to balance the grid and help transport renewable energy from offshore wind farms to where it's needed most. This project not only strengthens the UK's energy system but also puts Highview in a perfect position for growth, creating jobs, boosting the local supply chain, and taking a huge step toward a fully renewable future.
