Role
Who you are
- You are a fast learner and embrace new technologies
- You are familiar with or interested in blockchain technology
- You have experience with JavaScript and frontend development
- You have knowledge of modern web development libraries such as React and Vue
- You have interests in or knowledge of UX and UI design principles
- You are a recent university grad or you have completed or nearly complete BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degrees
- The ideal candidate is a self-motivated fast learner, has solid computer science fundamentals, and is interested in bringing the digital collectible experience to the next level
What the job involves
- We're looking for students in their last semester to join us as a Frontend Engineering Intern/Co-op for a 4 or 8 month work term, with the opportunity for conversion to full-time employment. You will help us create polished and delightful features for our NFT flagship products while learning from some of the industry’s best
- Get the chance to work with emerging technologies in both frontend & blockchain, and learn best practices from experienced engineers
- Build, ship, and iterate new features on our flagship NFT products
- Build the best user experience with cutting-edge technologies: we use the latest tools and patterns in the ecosystem, including: React, Next.js, Vercel, GraphQL, WebGL
- Own critical new features and be given responsibilities just like a full-time engineer
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to turn design and requirements into real products
Our take
Dapper Labs is a leader in the digital collectables space, best known for NBA Top Shot, a platform where fans can own and trade licensed basketball highlights as NFTs. By combining blockchain technology with fan engagement, Dapper Labs has transformed digital collecting.
The company recently faced a lawsuit claiming its NFTs were unregistered securities, leading to a nearly three-year legal battle. Dapper Labs reached a $4M settlement and agreed to implement compliance measures like employee training and faster payment processes. Despite the challenges, CEO Roham Gharegozlou views the settlement as a step toward regulatory clarity, ensuring continued innovation.
Despite this, the company is set to launch Disney Pinnacle, a digital pin-collecting platform featuring characters from Disney, Pixar, and Star Wars. The new platform will allow fans to collect and trade digital pins on their phones, expanding the company's reach into beloved franchises. With this project, Dapper Labs continues to push the boundaries of fan engagement, cementing its position as a leader in the evolving NFT space.
