- Are a software craftsman with a deep technological background, passionate about creating market-leading software through rigorous application of engineering discipline to state-of-the-art technology frameworks and systems

- Lead with empathy, building strong relationships with your direct reports and developing the next generation of technologists
- Expert in full-stack software development leveraging front end frameworks (Next.js, React, etc.) and back-end frameworks (Laravel, ASP.NET, Rails, etc.)
- Professional approach to software craftsmanship with an unflinching commitment to the disciplines of test-driven development, refactoring, simple design, collaborative programming, and acceptance tests
- Solid background in cloud-first environments and building cloud-native platforms in AWS
- Demonstrated skill in building reliable software systems at Internet scale incorporating fundamental design principles (design patterns, SOLID, etc.) in modern architectures (serverless, microservices, etc.)
- Highly proficient in managing experienced engineers, along with a demonstrated track record of growing and building highly effective distributed teams
- At least 7 years of professional experience building web applications and managing engineering teams
What the job involves
- SamCart is looking for a focused, dedicated, and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of Senior+ Engineers
- In this role, you will collaborate with Product Management and Tech Leads to deliver new features to our users on the SamCart platform, and you will guide and mentor our teams of engineers
- Lead engineering teams in feature development, testing, and deployment across the full application stack
- Lead teams to collaborate (mob or pair) effectively with other engineers to deliver high-quality code
- Mentor our engineers to design, develop, write, and ship valuable, high-quality software and systems
- Help engineers develop their careers through personalized coaching and performance management
- Lead engineering culture by example, evangelizing best practices like test-driven development and refactoring; ensure every feature that is developed meets or exceeds rigorous quality standards
Our take
The creator market is estimated to be worth well over $100B - and it’s growing fast. With the rise of eCommerce fuelling independent brands, and more people turning to this as a career avenue over recent years, demand is up for tools to support the industry. And SamCart is offering plenty of them.
The SamCart platform provides a wealth of eCommerce tools to help its over 75,000 creator customers set up a website, improve conversion rates and customer value, and operate and scale their businesses. It also offers business education in the form of CreatorU, an online library of business training content.
Importantly, this helps sellers operate independently of eCommerce giants like Etsy and Amazon - and SamCart doesn’t take a percentage of sales in return. This could see SamCart siphon off customers dissatisfied with the giants, whose practices increasingly cater towards larger brands.
So, SamCart has been slowly building out what could prove a huge contender to these major eCommerce rivals. Certainly, the rapid expansion of tools (including support for video course creators) demonstrates a market savvy and agility which will help it compete as the creator market grows.
