Who you are

Excellent knowledge of any modern programming language (Golang, Python, Java, NodeJS, Ruby, Rust, C, C++, .Net, etc.)
In-depth experience with at least one programming language’s toolchain and ecosystem (pip, maven, npm, gem, etc.)
Expertise with containers, Docker, and Kubernetes
Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
5+ years of experience in software development, data structures, algorithms, compilers, Makefiles, and toolchains
5+ years of experience in low-level Linux distribution or systems development
.deb, .rpm, .apk, flatpak, or similar Linux packaging a strong plus

What the job involves

As a Software Engineer, you will collaborate with Engineering, Product Management, and executive leaders to innovate, plan, and drive the technical implementation of two key initiative
The first is Wolfi OS, a secure community Linux OS optimized for the container and cloud-native era
The second is Chainguard Images, a series of minimalist, distress-designed images engineered for enhanced security and efficiency
Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects
Influence and coach a distributed team of engineers
Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines
Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large scale software solutions to meet business goals

Our take

Developers rely on open source code and apps in their day to day work, but when the provenance of the code is unknown this creates potential weaknesses that cybercriminals can exploit. Chainguard exists to build security into the coding supply chain by making it possible for companies to enforce security policies based on auditable signatures baked into the code.

In the wake of huge cyber attacks, software supply chain security has been an area of major focus. However, most of this has surrounded the scanning and detection of threats. Chainguard's approach comes from the other end of the process, focusing on building security into the software itself.

Built by former engineers who are aware of developer workloads, Chainguard is designed to be easily installed and integrated into existing automation systems. The company has secured substantial funding, the latest of which will support more aggressive product and R&D spending as it looks to further boost sales.
