Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CPA preferred
- Minimum of 3 years accounting or audit experience, with Big-Four experience preferred
- Technical knowledge of IFRS, particularly IAS 38, IFRS 2, IFRS 16 is advantageous
- Experience in month-end and year-end closing processes
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems such as Netsuite
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic tech environment
- Ability to work in the local Smartly office 3 days a week (more if you prefer)
What the job involves
- You will play a key role in financial reporting, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and supporting the continuous improvement of financial processes
- This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an audit background who is looking to leverage their expertise in a dynamic corporate environment, or someone who has worked in a fast-paced multinational finance team with technical accounting experience
- Lead the accounting for Smartly’s R&D capitalisation, leases, and assisting with share based payments under IFRS
- Play a key role in month-end closing, assisting the Accounting team and preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals
- Perform variance analysis on financial statements, providing insights into deviations from budget, forecast, and prior periods
- Own the implementation and ongoing monitoring of effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with corporate policies
- Contribute to the annual audit processes (both Group audit and local statutory audits), liaising with external auditors and ensuring all audit requirements are met
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting functions and improve efficiency
- Other ad-hoc tasks and projects as required

After seeing quick success following Facebook’s 2012 IPO, the company now works with over 700 brands including eBay, Uber, Ralph Lauren, Under Armour, and TechStyle.
Its suite of tools automatically creates ads and videos from product images, handling budget allocation, audience targeting, and where and when to purchase advertising. Consequently, Smartly.io has positioned itself to play a leading role in a market where brand and performance work are converging.
Smartly.io sold a majority stake to Providence Equity Partners in 2019 in a move to further its presence in the US. The company has since gone on to make several acquisitions of its own with Viralspace.ai and Ad-Lib.io. Smartly.io's ability to adapt to evolving social media advertising trends has it well set to see continued growth.
