Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or another relevant field to join our Strategic Finance team as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025
- You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
- You have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and other data and draw actionable insights; prior co-op or internship experience in finance, consulting, or accounting would be considered an asset
- You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, and are looking forward to gaining exposure to other financial analysis tools such as SAP SAC and Monte Carlo simulations
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams
- You are detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- You have a keen interest in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, and are eager to apply your skills towards an impactful mission
What the job involves
- As a member of our team, you will collaborate with us on research, analysis, and reporting tasks in support of the company’s decision making
- While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Strategic Finance team. The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada
- Conducting independent research on various factors around drug development to support financial modeling
- Contributing to resource allocation reviews for internal programs through supporting report generation, analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand progress on programs and re-forecast investment requirements
- Owning a number of processes during our quarterly close, and generating materials to support earnings call preparation
- Assisting in the optimization of financial models and systems to enhance operations and strategic decision making

The increasing application of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical contexts combined with the declining capabilities of antibiotic treatment has opened up a huge opportunity for antibody-discovery firm, AbCellera.
The company provides an artificial-intelligence powered platform for identifying antibodies and developing treatments, and it scored a big win by helping Eli Lilly identify the antibody for its bamlanivimab COVID treatment.
The company is looking to successfully execute its 100 or so discovery programs for new drugs from which it can hope to earn millions in royalties.
The challenge for AbCellera, like many startups in the space, will be staying ahead of the curve in the application of emerging technologies while maintaining total compliance with regulations. So far signs are encouraging : it saw its revenues increase by about 25% over 2022 as it added 18 new partnerships in the period.
