Who you are
- We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable navigating evolving priorities and who brings both curiosity and rigor to every stage of the analytic process
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance or a related field or equivalent professional experience
- 3+ years of work experience in analytics, finance, engineering, or equivalent analytical and marketing experience
- Prior experience in marketing analytics with a solid understanding of bid optimization, attribution, and performance marketing
- Experience working with modern data solutions (EX: Looker/Tableau/Power BI/DataBricks/FiveTran)
- Proficient in SQL and Python for data analysis and transformation
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of independently leading complex projects from scoping to delivery
- Demonstrated comfort operating in ambiguity, making assumptions explicit, and taking thoughtful risks to move the business forward
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate nuanced findings into simple takeaways for a range of audiences
- Ability to serve as a bridge between technical teams (e.g. Engineering) and business stakeholders by understanding both system architecture and business objectives
- Strong business intuition and curiosity to go beyond the data—asking why it matters, how it can influence real outcomes, and proactively identifying new analytical opportunities or ideas that align with business strategy
- Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment, with comfort navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities
- Background in fintech, insurtech, or other regulated technology industries
What the job involves
- Marketing Analytics sits at the intersection of data science, business strategy, and marketing execution—partnering cross-functionally with teams like Marketing, Underwriting, Sales, and Product to drive smarter growth and more profitable decision-making
- As a Senior Data Analyst, you’ll play a key role in this work by identifying and prioritizing problems throughout the organization, developing and providing actionable solutions, and communicating results to a range of business partners
- The work is fast-paced, cross-functional, and high-impact—ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity and wants to see their analysis drive real outcomes
- To succeed in this role, you’ll need to combine strong technical skills with sound judgment and a collaborative mindset. That means taking full ownership of your projects, being proactive in clarifying expectations, and distilling complexity into clear insights that help drive decisions
- Designing advanced modeling and analytical frameworks that support marketing efficiency and optimization—such as performance marketing bid models and customer attribution
- Partnering with the data engineering team to develop data models & integrate new datasets into reporting to support growth marketing
- Partnering with stakeholders in Marketing, Product, and Engineering to define project goals, align on deliverables, and communicate results
- Conducting exploratory analysis to uncover insights, validate hypotheses, and shape strategic decisions to drive growth
- Writing clear, concise memos and presentations that translate technical findings into actionable business insights, especially for non-technical leaders
- Maintaining a bias toward action and communicating assumptions or caveats where needed—helping the business move forward even when data isn't perfect
- Driving your own work forward through structured planning, regular progress updates, and alignment checkpoints with project sponsors
- Supporting a culture of continuous learning by mentoring junior analysts and sharing analytical best practices with peers
Our take
The setup process for home insurance can be difficult and time-consuming, particularly for complex and risky properties. Legacy insurance providers rely on users and brokers to insert uniform data, an approach that is not very accurate considering the idiosyncrasies of each individual property.
Kin Insurance works directly with consumers to provide bespoke and affordable home insurance. The company's software imports thousands of variables based on third-party data in order to provide a more personalized approach to home insurance. Data is also collected from aerial and satellite imagery, government records, and building permits to ensure a house is covered from localized threats such as wildfire, hurricanes and other natural disasters.
Recognizing the antiquated and one-size-fits-all nature of the current home insurance landscape, Kin Insurance has taken an innovative approach by focusing on data collection. Through these means, the company claims that it can offer personalized insurance that can be negotiated directly through its communication channels, ensuring that consumers can access the exact insurance they need without having to pay more than is required.
