Who you are
- This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their data career who is eager to build strong SQL and analytics skills, gain hands-on experience with healthcare and operational data, and grow into a fully independent Data Analyst over time
- 0–2 years of experience in a data analyst role, internship, academic research, or similar analytical experience
- Working knowledge of SQL and ability to write basic queries to extract and analyze data
- Experience using Excel and/or Google Sheets for data analysis and manipulation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Desirable
- Exposure to Business Intelligence tools (e.g., Mode, Looker, Tableau, or similar)
- Basic familiarity with Python or R
- Experience with and/or passion for working in the healthcare industry
- Familiarity with Git or version control tools
- Basic understanding of data warehousing or data engineering concepts
- Ability to work in a fully remote environment
What the job involves
- We are looking for a Junior Data Analyst to join our data team and support us in the use of analytics in both running our business and providing scorecards and insights to our clients and partners
- In this role, you will help analyze operational and business data; create and maintain dashboards and scorecards for both running the company and for clients; and ensure our teams have access to timely insights
- You will partner with teams across clinical, coaching, engineering, product, operations, and finance to answer questions, monitor performance, and support data-driven decision-making
- Support regular and ad hoc analyses to help answer key business and operational questions
- Assist in tracking KPIs that we use to run the business, and help maintain and improve recurring reports for operating and performance metrics
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards, ensuring teams have access to timely and reliable data for decision-making
- Partner with cross-functional teams (including clinical, coaching, operations, member care, engineering and product) to help identify trends, answer questions, and surface insights
- Assist in monitoring data quality and flagging inconsistencies, anomalies, or potential issues
- Collaborate with the Data Engineering team and senior analysts to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and usability
- Document queries, reports, and data definitions to support transparency and reproducibility
Our take
Obesity affects four in ten Americans, but treatment has long been overlooked, often categorized as a lifestyle problem rather than a healthcare issue. Calibrate is changing that by offering a combination of cutting-edge medication and physiological training to help people make lasting changes to their weight.
The medications used by Calibrate, including GLP-1 drugs, have shown strong results in clinical trials. When combined with sustainable lifestyle changes, its program helps patients achieve lasting weight loss. However, while these medications show promise, long-term safety and effectiveness still require further study, especially since continued use is necessary to prevent weight regain.
Despite these concerns, Calibrate's approach has helped over 20,000 people, and many have sustained health improvements well beyond the first year. It has faced some challenges, including negative press and a round of layoffs, but with funding and positive attention around next-gen weight loss drugs, the company continues to be a leader in the field.
