- A deep understanding of the entire sales and marketing funnel, including lead generation, lead nurturing, and sales
- Expertise in various marketing channels, including digital marketing, content marketing, email marketing, social media, paid advertising, and events
- Strong analytical and data-driven mindset with the ability to track, measure, and analyze campaign performance
- Passion for technology and a good understanding of the tech industry
- A friendly, collaborative, humble, honest, and always striving to be better attitude
- 8+ years of leadership experience in a growth or demand generation function with a proven track record of success in driving revenue and growth through data-driven campaigns, preferably within the infrastructure software or a related industry
- Experience leading and managing high-performing marketing teams
- CRM experience (Hubspot experience preferred)
- Experience with predictive analytics and AI-powered marketing tools
- Experience with ABM (Account-Based Marketing) preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field
What the job involves
- CIQ seeks a driven leader to own and lead our marketing and demand functions
- This critical role is responsible for the ideation, development, and delivery of creative, data-driven campaigns that drive high-quality leads and fuel revenue growth
- The marketing organization at CIQ is rethinking the growth and demand strategies and will employ AI and any other modern tools that promise to introduce efficiencies, expand coverage, and ultimately improve conversion
- We seek someone with an eye on the future of marketing, and we will empower you to help define it
- There are two main objectives for the person in this role
- They will drive demand generation efforts and be a leader in our growing organization across our entire marketing function
- You will be the leader of the marketing organization and will be relied upon to drive the expansion of our funnel and the effectiveness of conversion throughout
- Define and execute the overall marketing and demand generation strategy across product lines and an open-source community
- Develop and implement integrated campaigns across multiple channels, including digital marketing, content marketing, email marketing, social media, paid ads, events, and webinars
- Co-own our marketing automation platform (Hubspot), while investigating and integrating modern technology and AI to create efficiencies throughout the funnel
- Manage a budget and establish metrics and reports that demonstrate success and allow us to troubleshoot concerns in our outbound campaign efforts
- Make CIQ a household name in the world of software infrastructure, and raise awareness of the company, our products, and our initiatives
- You will also be a leader in the marketing organization and beyond. You will present our strategies to the company and will need to be able to bring people along with your vision
- Build, lead, and mentor a team of forward-thinking marketers
- Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous learning
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for team members
- Ultimately, in this role, you will be a critical member of our growing revenue organization. You will have a chance to define this function as you see fit. We believe marketing and sales are a single function that when aligned are unstoppable

Our take
Development of the Community Enterprise Linux Operating System (CentOS) was dropped by IBM’s RedHat in just 2020, leaving a gaping hole in the market. When CIQ’s founders swept in to offer a replacement, Rocky Linux, and a complementary support and servicing company CIQ, the demand reportedly skyrocketed - and, according to CIQ, it hasn’t subsided since.
That’s because the old CentOS was one of the principal OSs used by enterprise, cloud, VMs, and containers - Google, for example, was among one of its many enterprise users. Now Google has picked up Rocky Linux, and CIQ has consequently scooped up that major partnership too - and some healthy funding. It’s a fitting reward for a highly savvy play from the CIQ founders, picking up a tried-and-tested product that’s already achieved strong market penetration.
Besides Rocky Linux, CIQ has also developed cluster provisioning solution Warewulf, high performance computing (HPC) app containers tool Apptainer, and hybrid performance computing platform-as-a-Service Fuzzball. So it’s safe to say that CIQ has managed to skilfully manoeuvre its way into a pivotal position in the development of cutting edge high performance computing architecture. Now it will need to ensure it can capitalize on its lead.
