Who you are
- 10-15+ years in a senior Individual Contributor role, with a proven track record of leading complex design initiatives with simple and elegant solutions
- A portfolio showcasing significant contributions to shipping customer experiences that have made a measurable impact on business and customer metrics
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with various stakeholder groups, including engineering, product management, and leadership, influencing design strategy and ensuring successful execution
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence key stakeholders. Strong storytelling skills to present and advocate for design decisions
- Familiarity leveraging generative AI for exploration and prototyping

What the job involves
- As a Staff Product Designer on Bridge, you will lead multiple highly-visible design initiatives that deliver against Dropbox’s strategic bets around AI. This role will require you to lead with vision, driving strategic initiatives that blend design excellence with customer empathy and innovation. You will also help shape our team’s culture, personally role modeling excellence across strategy, interaction and visual design, prototyping, and storytelling
- Problem definition: Define high-level opportunities that have the potential to transform the user experience and business outcomes. Bring clarity, insight, and strategic focus to these challenges
- Ownership: Take ownership of strategic, design-led projects, driving them from concept to delivery. Advocate and guide the team toward customer-centered, innovative outcomes
- Execution: Work with the broader design organization to ensure that all designs are executed to the highest standards of craftsmanship and usability. Focus on simplifying complex workflows that simplify user experiences for multiple customers
- Strategy: Help shape and execute the broader design strategy, influencing product strategy across the team and ensuring alignment with business goals. Collaborate with Design, Product, and Engineering Leadership to align strategic design initiatives with company goals
Our take
Dropbox started by helping people bring together their files in one central place. The contents of these folders are synchronised to Dropbox's servers along with other computers and devices where the user has installed Dropbox, keeping the same files up-to-date across all devices.
Nowadays, there are lots of competing companies in cloud storage, and some with better distribution (e.g. Google and Apple). This explains why Dropbox is making a big push to reinvent itself after a fairly disappointing run since its IPO in 2018. The new Dropbox turns folders into "Spaces", which are collaboration hubs for teams, complete with comment streams, artificial intelligence tools and integrations into services such as Slack.
The company continues to build out its offerings through acquisitions, such as that of Formswift, bolstering its end-to-end agreement workflow capabilities. Indeed, It's very clear that Dropbox is trying to make a big move from being just a storage company. This seems to be a necessary move given the competitive nature of the industry it is operating within.
