Who you are

BS/MS/PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
15+ years of experience in CPU Design Verification (DV), including DV methodology, processes, testbench design, and quality requirements
8+ years of experience managing engineering teams, with a demonstrated ability to influence organizational objectives and align cross-functional teams
Prior technical leadership in top-level CPU Design Verification
Deep knowledge and understanding of computer architecture, hardware description languages and associated methodologies
Exceptional planning and communication abilities
Strong collaboration skills across sites and disciplines

What the job involves

The RISC-V CPU Design Verification Engineering Leader will be responsible for the pre-silicon RTL verification of high performance CPU microarchitectures going into industry leading AI/ML architecture
Provide strong leadership to expert engineers to develop and execute DV testplans for ISA and microarchitecture
Collaborate with multi-functional leaders for the RTL, Physical Design, and CPU Performance teams
Use SystemVerilog, UVM, C++ and scripting languages with industry-leading simulation tools and methodologies to verify complex CPU designs
Negotiate program objectives with Architecture, Design and Software teams, and lead your team through planning, execution and closure
Support individual development and goal definition, whilst aligning team vision for outstanding results

Our take

Tenstorrent is a US- and Canada-based semiconductor startup specializing in processors for AI workloads. Rather than building gneral-purpose CPUs or GPus, the company develops custom chips and sofrware optimized for running moder AI models. As demand for AI accelerates, and as a global chip shortage reshapes the semiconductor industry, these trends have become strong tailwinds for Tenstorrent.

The company’s unique approach is to build for this future software, which it believes will be written at a higher level. Combining this with conditional computing, Tenstorrent supports a scalable distributed network approach that is analogous to a human brain.

While the market for specialized AI hardware is destined to be gigantic, the company has to compete with a plethora of hopeful startups (as well as major tech companies like NVIDIA and Qualcomm). That said, Tenstorrent boasts an excellent trajectory so far, with its latest moves including unveiling its high-end Wormhole AI processors, and a partnership with LG which will see the development of chips for "Affectionate Intelligence".
