Who you are

Experience and knowledge of embedded software
Ability to develop for RTOS and Linux-based environments
Strong motivation to work through engineering challenges
Enthusiasm for working with distributed teams
Ability to understand system-wide implications of electronic design and software integration
B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
5+ years of experience in developing embedded firmware using C/C++
Hands-on experience developing for Linux, RTOS, and bare-metal systems. FreeRTOS experience is a plus
Good understanding and working knowledge of one or more of: CAN, SPI, I2C protocols, MODBUS, CANOPEN
Experience with software build tools, source control systems, and data management tools, namely GCC, GIT, Confluence, and JIRA
Confident ability to understand circuit schematics and apply working knowledge of electronics in the bring-up and debug of PCBs
Comfortable and familiar with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol debuggers, DVMs, soldering irons, and home-built dev-kits
Pro-active, communicative self-starter, comfortable working in a geographically diverse team environment
Ability to work effectively in an Agile development model and complete tasks/projects with minimal supervision

What the job involves

Reports To: Vice President, Embedded Software
ChargePoint is seeking an outstanding senior engineer with a creative approach and a broad skill set to build cutting-edge firmware for a next-generation vehicle charging platform
You will work on the design, implementation, and testing of embedded firmware for ARM-based microprocessors that control high-power electronics
You will develop and support embedded firmware for the control of high-power electronics, and collaborate cross-functionally across geographies with hardware, system, and cloud engineering teams to define and implement specifications, features, and APIs

Our take

Electric vehicles are predicted to account for nearly 30% of new vehicle sales by 2025, which means the need for EV charging infrastructure is on the rise. ChargePoint supplies just such infrastructure, with hardware, software and mobile solutions for "every charging need".

Boasting the world’s largest EV charging network, the company also provides complimentary services for drivers, businesses and fleets. These include, for example, a mobile app for finding and paying for charging, and project management tools for making the switch to EVs.

Having already established a strong presence in the lucrative and expanding EV charging market, ChargePoint is well-positioned to support the electric mobility revolution. It serves a range of clients across North America and Europe, including Wells Fargo which it partnered to create financing solutions for EV infrastructure. November 2025 saw funds secured that will support its goal of reaching profitability in the near future.
