Who you are

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record in federal capture, the ability to influence stakeholders, and a passion for delivering mission-critical space-based solutions
5+ years of federal business development/capture experience in defense, intelligence, or ISR markets
Demonstrated track record of winning multi-million-dollar federal contracts (prime or subcontract)
Strong knowledge of the federal acquisition lifecycle (RFI, RFP, IDIQ, BPAs, sole source justifications)
Experience developing capture and call plans, win themes, and discriminators
Familiarity with proposal development processes and participation in Pink/Red/Gold team reviews
Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role. If needed, Spire will arrange the necessary licenses—this is not something candidates need to have before applying. #LI-

Desirable

Active or prior S. security clearance (Secret or above)
Military, IC, or federal civilian agency background with existing customer relationships
Experience working with primes and subs, managing teaming agreements, and shaping opportunities
Proficiency with federal contracting and procurement vehicles
Proficiency in CRM and sales tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator)

What the job involves

Spire seeks a Business Development Manager – Federal ISR to expand our presence within the U.S. Federal Government market
This role will be responsible for identifying, shaping, and securing new opportunities in defense, intelligence, and related sectors, while managing the full capture lifecycle from early shaping to proposal submission
Develop and execute a comprehensive business development and capture strategy targeting U.S. Federal ISR customers
Identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities through market research, customer engagement, and pipeline development
Lead capture planning efforts including Call Plans, PWin assessments, Black Hat reviews, and Color Team participation (Pink/Red/Gold)
Build and manage strong relationships with federal agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners
Drive teaming strategies including NDAs and Teaming Agreements
Support proposal development by contributing to win themes, discriminators, and customer-focused messaging
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, legal, finance) to shape solutions that meet mission needs
Represent Spire at industry events, trade shows, and customer engagements
Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting within CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.)

There’s been an increasing focus on big data in recent years, and Spire Global aims to lead the field in the biggest data of all - Earth Intelligence - with its suite of satellites collecting data from beneath the Earth’s surface to the edge of the atmosphere.

It identifies three main areas of use for its data - Aviation, Maritime, and Weather. Its capabilities in these fields include providing over 660M position reports each day for the aviation industry, building intelligent routing and tracking systems for maritime shipping, and supplying in-depth weather forecasting and climate impact analysis.

Beyond this, Spire Global's satellite system has countless other applications, such as real-time observation in active conflicts, and wildfire tracking. The company exists within a rapidly-developing market, in which it has already made a big impact. In recent years it has collaborated with BlackSky and Skyline Partners, the latter partnership seeing Spire advance into the InsurTech space, as well launch new technology to enable optical inter-satellite links, positioning the company well for an impactful future.
