Who you are

2+ years in a managing/leading role
Designed and operated data pipelines with high volume and throughput
Experience designing data intensive applications leveraging relational (e.g. PostgreSQL) or NoSQL (e.g. Bigtable) databases
Experience designing new applications with reliability, operability, and availability in mind
Experience writing robust Go code
Experience with GCP (especially Bigtable/BigQuery), Kubernetes, and Terraform

What the job involves

The Usage team aims to help Algolia grow as an agile business. To achieve that, we are building a powerful and flexible Usage Platform, allowing every product team in the company to release, track and monetize new products, while ensuring that customers understand and control their usage
To that end, we are looking for a Team Lead to join the team and help us scale our Usage Platform
You will work on features and services that are critical for Algolia, from data pipelines ingesting very large amounts of logs from all our products to APIs that are relied upon to alert and charge customers based on their usage
You will also play a role in training, mentoring and leading team members
Help the team plan, execute and ship releases respecting timelines and high-quality development, working closely with the product and leadership teams
Hire, coach and mentor engineers to excel at their work and grow
Be a key contributor to the design, development, operation and deployment of all features of the Usage Platform processing pipelines and APIs
Be responsible for the quality and the robustness of the APIs and services
Improve engineering quality, processes and tooling
Work closely with the team’s Product Manager to help define the roadmap and assist internal stakeholders (other product teams) with releasing new products

Our take

While in-site searching has been available for some time from web search servers such as Google and Bing, its functionality is limited due to it relying on general web scraping techniques which can miss relevant information. By contrast Algolia indexes only the company's site, allowing its search to serve accurate results extremely swiftly, which helps to drive sales conversions aside from making sites far more usable. The efficacy of this solution can be seen from its customer base of over 10,000 companies including the likes of Slack, Zendesk and Lacoste.

To diversify and increase the product range, Algolia have expanded into other real-time APIs such as product recommendations available for eCommerce websites. With the company performing extremely well over the last few years, Algolia have recruited key senior executives to further its growth. As the company continues to scale it seems likely that an IPO is not too distant a prospect.
