What the job involves
- This role will be responsible for supporting the Head of Product with ensuring we have the right mix of skills in our teams and be a key participant in the organisational structures needed to enable the larger team to both stay organised and execute with autonomy
- They will identify possible collisions and proactively fix them by mediating between teams and finding mutual solutions independent of senior leadership
- As a Tech Lead Manager at Kobalt Music, you will work alongside a peer group of senior technologists and business leaders on a mission to change how musicians and artists are represented in the music industry
- Working closely with the Senior Manager, you will support building a diverse, highly efficient and highly-skilled engineering team aligned to Kobalt’s core business units
- This is a unique opportunity to be hands-on with both the teams and the technology while helping shape the core structure of a rapidly scaling organisation and have a tangible impact on the future of music
- You will build, develop and lead small to medium-sized teams
- Responsible for setting direction at the team level and linking team goals to wider BU and organisational strategy
- Responsible for managing project priorities, resources, relationships and partner teams/vendors

Kobalt manages the reporting and collection of digital music royalties for over 30,000 songwriters, 700,000 songs, and 500 publishing companies worldwide including Roddy Ricch, FINNEAS, Stevie Nicks, and Paul McCartney.
It's aiming to increase trust between the music and technology industries in order to build a new infrastructure that benefits fans, creators, rights owners and DSPs.
The transition from purchasing to streaming in the music world has added complexity to how royalties are distributed and collected while also increasing the size of the music industry in terms of the revenue it generates. Kobalt benefits from both of those trends.
