Role
Who you are
- You are a hands-on player coach who loves both the art & science of recruiting and building creative talent acquisition solutions
- You are obsessed with candidate experience, a dot-connector, executor, highly intuitive and never settles
- The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leading & developing a team of recruiters across Tech & Corporate functions in high growth & high bar environments
- You have experience reimagining creative strategies that maximize the company’s talent, through brand awareness, attraction, and acquisition strategies, enabling an inclusive workforce in which everyone can fully contribute and reach their full potential to deliver on TFD’s mission
- You must love being a player coach and are excited about recruiting for senior & critical roles while leading a team
- You have 8+ years of experience working in Talent Acquisition and 4+ years of experience managing a team
- You are a player coach who insists on spearheading searches (from executive search to any critical role at any level)
- You go out of your way to bring happiness and joy to all -- especially in touchpoints throughout the hiring journey
- You act courageously, and you’re not afraid to learn from calculated risks rather than missed opportunities out of fear
- You believe “problems are treasures” and are open to new approaches, solving problems from first principles
- You can fly at 30,000 feet in crafting a long-term Talent Acquisition strategy one minute and then direct on the runway to help get things done
- You have a successful track record of building and developing fantastic talent teams in high growth organizations, and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves to do it
What the job involves
- We are looking for a highly ambitious Director, Talent Acquisition to lead our Tech & Corporate functions
- Reporting into our VP, Talent Acquisition, you will lead, inspire, develop and build a team of exceptional recruiters who are known for being the best recruiters anyone has ever worked with
- The Director, Talent Acquisition for Tech & Corporate is a key member of the Talent Acquisition Leadership Team, reporting to the VP, Talent Acquisition. We strive to intentionally create the best experience of our employee’s careers
- Inspire, develop & build a strong team of excellent full-cycle recruiters who are rooted in our values and will support our technical & corporate functions
- Build and develop a team of consultative & strategic recruiting partners to our leaders and skilled at tactfully sourcing, attracting, assessing, and hiring at a high bar to meet our goals and support our mission at TFD
- Drive rigor around the talent acquisition processes focusing on continuous improvement to ensure that we have a consistently high touch & positive experience for candidates, hiring managers, and hiring teams
- Exceptional at partnering and aligning with our Human’s Partners (Human’s Business Partners, Total Rewards, People Operations and Talent Management partners) to help us evolve from single role focused recruiting to strategic workforce planning and prioritization, so we are ahead of the hiring curve needed for the organization to scale
- Align our hiring practices with our internal talent initiatives, with a strong focus on programs, processes, tools, and training that enable us to never settle and always improve our quality of hires
- Conceptualize recruiting dashboards and create the capability to make data-driven decisions and recommendations where possible, using reporting and metrics to track and drive improvements in recruiting processes
- Build and implement our employer branding strategy to position TFD as the best place you will ever work
Our take
Pet food production in the US is held to alarmingly low safety and quality standards despite being a $99 billion industry, which is hidden behind loose labeling and marketing regulations. When one of the founders of The Farmer's Dog realised that dog food was making his dog sick, they decided that dogs shouldn't be fed anything that wouldn't pass legal requirements for humans.
The Farmer’s Dog produces customised dog food packages that are sent as a regular subscription service. Recipes behind the dog food are personalised and are comprised of natural and high-quality ingredients, aiming to meet the dietary requirements of each individual dog. As the dog food is human-grade, the company even taste-tests its recipes on humans.
The startup sends millions of meals every month and boasts a continual subscription rate of almost 50%. It has raised $50 million in funding to date and is developing new pet food products and scaling to offer its subscription service outside of the US.
