Who you are
- 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 5+ years in an architectural leadership role
- Expert proficiency in C#, .NET Core, and related frameworks
- Experience working with large enterprises with complex retail operations, including hardware deployment, store connectivity, and critical 3rd party integrations
- Strong Azure expertise, including cloud architecture, services, and best practices
- Proven experience in architecting scalable, high-performance systems
- Strong advocate for Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to engineers and non-technical stakeholders
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps principles, and cloud infrastructure
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and scalable approach
Desirable
- Experience with event-driven architectures and microservices
- Experience with large-scale payment processing, compliance, and security in retail environments
- Deep understanding of security best practices in cloud environments
- Knowledge of enterprise software integration patterns
What the job involves
- We are looking for a hands-on Chief Architect to define, build, and evolve the technical architecture of our software platforms and systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability
- This role requires a deeply technical leader with strong expertise in C# and Azure, who can architect and design first, follow Test-Driven Development (TDD), and lead by example through hands-on development and mentorship
- As Chief Architect, you will work across multiple projects, collaborating with engineering teams to ensure technical consistency, innovation, and adherence to best practices
- You will be responsible for high-level system design, hands-on coding, and mentoring engineers, ensuring that solutions are well-architected and aligned with business objectives
- Define, own, and evolve the technical architecture for our software systems, ensuring it meets business and technical needs
- Establish and enforce architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices
- Ensure architectural decisions consider scalability, reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency in Azure
- Document and communicate architecture decisions, making complex concepts accessible at different levels
- Identify and address technical debt, optimizing system performance and maintainability
- Maintain a hands-on role in coding and architectural design, leading by example
- Expert in C# and .NET, designing and implementing high-performance, maintainable solutions
- Architect and develop cloud-native applications and services using Azure
- Champion Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing as core development principles
- Break down complex technical challenges into well-defined tasks for agile sprints
- Participate in refinements, sprint planning, and backlog grooming to ensure work is properly scoped and executable
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching to engineers at all levels
- Ensure engineering teams follow best practices in design, development, and testing
- Collaborate closely with engineering leadership and stakeholders to align technical and business priorities
- Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
- Ability to work closely with operations teams, franchise partners, and store managers to align technology with business needs
