Role
Who you are
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role, with a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
- Experience independently reviewing and dissecting complex contracts
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Track record of identifying inefficiencies and driving scalable, sustainable solutions
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and a high degree of integrity
- Experience working cross-functionally is a plus
- Public accounting experience is a plus
- Proficiency in NetSuite accounting software and Floqast is a plus
- CPA certification is highly preferred
What the job involves
- Oversee the B2B / D2C Order-to-Cash processes, encompassing order management, commissions calculations, billing, payment processing, receivables outreach, credit limit oversight, reconciliation, reporting and revenue recognition
- Assist with the monthly financial close process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Consolidate and report financial information, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including FP&A,Tax, IT / Business Systems, Legal, Sales, and Supply Chain, to support business processes
- Independently review and dissect complex contracts
- Draft and maintain process documentation
- Participate in the development and implementation of financial reporting initiatives to accelerate the close process and enhance overall financial reporting
- Participate in the development and implementation of internal controls
- Proactively identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements
- Monitor and report key performance indicators related to financial operations
- Prepare and own monthly balance sheet reconciliations and flux analysis
- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with external audit requirements
- Engage in ad-hoc projects and analysis as required, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to take on new challenges
Our take
As smart watches with health and wellbeing monitoring functions are now an everyday norm, Oura is offering similar wearable technology with its series of rings. It’s one of a number of companies gaining serious traction in the market, along with the likes of Circular and Movano.
The company gained an early profile after its collaboration with Gucci which created mainstream publicity and may have given it a leg up on the competition. With the smart ring market forecast to keep growing, Oura certainly finds itself in a promising position as it moves to build out its operations and refine the product.
The bottom line for Oura will be customer satisfaction and demand, which does make its mixed reviews so far a little troubling. That said, the announcement of its new "Circles" social feature, on top of an integration with InsideTracker and acquisition of "wave to pay" company Proxy, all look set to increase the functionality of the ring and could well win more consumers over.
