What the job involves
- As an Engineering Manager, your primary responsibility will be to lead our teams and individuals in efforts to enhance our product's appeal, foster personal development, oversee technology, delivery, and strategic initiatives
- Our product development process is built around cross-functional teams
- In collaboration with our product managers, you lead the team in finding productive and sustainable ways of working while delivering value to our customers and the business
- You will be a part of a Product Area and together with the other teams work towards its objectives and mission
- Together with your colleagues in the engineering leadership team, you will also work with alignment and cross-team improvements to ensure that we continuously improve our organization and have an alignment in our organization also strengthen the relations with other parts of the organization

- We develop our product in-house in our offices in Stockholm and Barcelona
- Apply a servant leadership mindset to grow motivated teams
- Support software engineers and product designers through coaching and mentoring and creating opportunities for them to grow
- Work closely with our agile product teams with a customer-first mindset, to guide them in continuous improvements and team dynamics
- Be responsible for staffing and recruitment for your team/s
- Collaborate with Product Managers to set a direction for your teams
- Work with other Engineering Managers across the product and our engineering organization to improve ways of working

While the streaming media model has been a great success with the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime successfully disrupting the media landscape, continually changing viewing habits means there is plenty of room in the market for new entrants. Specialising in local content and new media technology, Viaplay is a Nordic media and entertainment provider with global ambitions.
Viaplay Group offers a video on demand service, commissions films and series in its studios, operates several TV channels in the Nordic region focused on sports and its own content and runs one of the largest commercial radio networks in the Nordic region. This diversity of offerings stands it in good stead to tackle its larger rivals, and its data-driven approach to its offerings means it produces content that its audiences wants to see, including local films and content that larger rivals might miss or not produce at all.
Leading with its Viaplay streaming service, it has expanded rapidly from the Nordic region, first to the UK in 2022 and then to the US and Canada in early 2023. While it lacks the size of its rivals' media libraries, it has developed a solid base from which it can grow into a major competitor in the digital media market.
