Role
Who you are
- The right person will be a self-starter intent on creating new insights with deep financial analysis and cross functional partnerships
- 2-5 years of experience in FP&A, Investment Banking, Management Consulting
- Experience in Financial Modeling and Analysis
- Working knowledge of GAAP
- Attention to detail
- Strong technical skills leveraging AI to drive operational efficiencies
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Adept at MS Excel/GoogleSheets and creating compelling Powerpoint presentations
Desirable
- Experience in med-tech/health-tech/med-device business preferred
- Experience establishing/maintaining financial rhythm in well established environments
- Experience with Adaptiv, Netsuite, and/or Salesforce
What the job involves
- The FP&A Senior Analyst will be a key player on our Corporate FP&A team
- This person will support the core FP&A processes and continuously enhance the Company’s forecasting and long-term planning abilities
- Reporting to the Manager of FP&A, this person will be responsible for the financial cadence and structure at Butterfly
- Analyze financial and operational information to identify underlying business drivers and trends that inform management decisions
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management reporting (Revenue, COGS, OpEx, CAPEX, Headcount) - analyze financial results, distill key trends, perform variance analysis, and communicate key messages to CFO and senior management
- Manage the corporate budget and partner with business process owners to monitor departmental budget performance, identify deviations, and recommend corrective actions
- Support the annual budgeting process, collaborating with various departments to gather and consolidate information
- Provide dedicated financial support to the Sales and Commercial teams on ad hoc projects
- Develop and maintain financial models to support long-term planning and drive better resource allocation and investment decisions
- Build and maintain relationships with cross-functional teams and finance business partners to synthesize and integrate updates relating to budget and planning
- Support the Manager of FP&A and Director of Finance in ad hoc and specific analyses that inform long term, strategic business choices/decisions
Our take
Ultrasound machines are invaluable tools for clinicians, but remain inaccessible to many. This is due to existing machines relying on quartz-powered transducers and other specialized components, resulting in them being very large and expensive. Butterfly Network builds inexpensive and compact ultrasound technology in order to increase access to clinics across the US.
The company's device is around the same size as an electric razor, a design made possible by storing the ultrasound technology on a chip as opposed to a semi-conductor. Whilst Butterfly Network has not innovated the ultrasound process itself, it has found a unique gap in the market with this approach.
In addition to the device, Butterfly Network supplies image interpretation for a monthly cost. It also operates ''Butterfly Garden'', where medical device companies, virtual care companies, and AI developers can access its software development kit. This enables new applications to be created that support the innovation of ultrasound technology.
