Who you are

Technical Expertise: 5+ years of professional experience in designing, implementing, and scaling high-performance services. While our stack includes Golang, experience in Java, C++, or similar languages, coupled with a willingness to master Go, is required
Complex Systems: Demonstrated experience in architecting and contributing to systems that solve complex business challenges, with a particular focus on scalability, distributed systems, and handling vast data volumes
Capability of participating in system design discussions, explaining trade-offs to both engineers and stakeholders
Technical Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a variety of audiences, fostering collaboration and driving consensus among team members and stakeholders
End User Focus: A strong emphasis on user experience, demonstrated through API design, service functionality, and performance optimization
Technical Breadth: A solid grasp of design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and a broad understanding of various technology stacks and frameworks
Preferred Experience: While not required, prior experience with our technology stack (Golang, gRPC, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. A commitment to mastering these technologies is expected

What the job involves

As a Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our engineering efforts to expand our core Platform for Clearing & Settlement
You are expected to participate in the design and building of complex features and services, ensuring scalability and reliability across various financial transaction processes
You will solve complex, systemic issues that require an innovative approach and a deep understanding of system design and architecture
As a voice within the team, your role will actively shaping our engineering culture, refining technical standards, and promoting best practices in system design and software engineering
As a member, you will collaborate on strategic directions, and ensure that our platform not only meets but exceeds the expectations of our institutional clients. Your contributions will significantly influence our technology roadmap and the future of financial services technology

Clear Street is building up-to-date, cloud native infrastructure for capital markets, bringing clients faster and easier access to things like reporting, clearing, custody, and execution.

It’s been quite a rise to prominence for the New York based startup, which surpassed a billion dollar valuation in 2022 despite only launching in 2018. However, given the previous industry experience of its founders, Clear Street's success should come as no surprise. The trio built the platform as a remedy to their own pain points, missed opportunities, and lack of access to key data in the prime brokerage space.

With its Unicorn status secured and its list of clients growing, Clear Street is now gearing up for a period of rapid expansion, both geographically and across the financial services industry. Securing funding in 2023 from Prysm Capital, the company has money to play with as it continues to pursue better infrastructure for capital markets.
