Role
Who you are
- 4-6 years of analytics experience, including at least 1 year working with healthcare data
- Advanced SQL and dbt skills
- Experience working with analytical data stores like Delta Lake, Snowflake, BigQuery, etc
- Familiarity with dashboarding tools
- Intermediate Python, or basic knowledge and a strong desire to learn
- Databricks experience strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate on a growing team
- A detective mindset – you love getting to the root of problems and using data to solve them
What the job involves
- As Vanna continues to grow, we’re looking for an Analytics Engineer to own the core data models that power everything from internal decision-making and client-facing insights to machine learning models and user-facing product features
- You’ll work closely with the product, operations, and clinical teams to develop the data capabilities that enable our community-based teams to provide compassionate care to our members living with severe mental illness
- This is an opportunity to join a small but growing team, where you’ll play a key role in developing the next iteration of our foundational data capabilities as we continue to scale
- You have a growth mindset and are excited about expanding your technical skills and stepping into new responsibilities as the team and company grow
- Own the input layer to our data platform
- Evolve our core data models to support emerging use cases
- Automate data flows, and layer in monitoring, alerting, and data quality tests to ensure data is accurate and up-to-date
- Work collaboratively across the entire Vanna team to design and implement core clinical, operational, financial, and product KPIs
- Build out our reporting and dashboarding layer in support of self-service analytics
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses for internal stakeholders and clients, and present findings in a way that drives maximum impact
Our take
There are 14 million Americans living with serious mental illness, the vast majority of whom never receive any kind of psychosocial rehabilitation. This is a silent human crisis, with sufferers having life expectancies decades shorter than the average and a greatly elevated risk of poverty, homelessness and incarceration.
Vanna Health exists to help support people suffering from serious mental illness by strengthening the community support structures around them. A for-profit company, it works by providing values to its partner insurers, agencies and hospitals, bundling clinical treatment plans and community offerings in a way that greatly reduces the cost of care while delivering outcomes that far outperform the rather dire status quo in US mental health care.
Vanna Health raised significant funding in late 2022, enabling it to officially launch its services in the United States. It will be investing heavily in building new health care partnerships, expanding its clinical teams and developing its tech stack. In the longer term it could well develop into a significant part of the mental health care landscape in the US medical system.
