Role

Who you are

  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Coachable and gritty with a deep desire to learn the business and crush monthly targets
  • Experience prospecting a SaaS product or service to F2000, global and/or government accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to learn complex topics and weave great stories into effective messaging and business outcomes for targeted campaigns
  • Ability to be personable, build rapport and exercise discretion while working with confidential information
  • Excellent written communication, phone, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be a proactive, independent thinker with high energy/positive attitude

Desirable

  • Domain expertise in GEOINT, satellite imaging, or remote imaging. Previous vertical experience in: agriculture, energy, state and local governments or universities
  • Experience prospecting or selling into enterprise or government accounts
  • Understanding and experience with MEDDPICC, Command of the Message and/or Science of Sales Development methodologies
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Groove and email automation tools

What the job involves

  • We are hiring for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) based in the United States to support our seasoned closers for new logos within the North America territory
  • Our SDRs work closely with seasoned Account Executives to build a closable pipeline and expand notable accounts
  • This role has multiple career paths and the training to be a future sales, customer success or operations professional
  • We are looking for future Planeteers that are passionate about our mission, sales and technology
  • As a foundational member of a high growth business unit, you will have the opportunity to contribute to strategy, account planning, and relationship development for a world class sales organization
  • Own a territory that you will nurture and develop high quality accounts and leads for your Account Executives, contributing directly to the topline level growth of Planet. You are hunting for accounts that mirror our ideal client profile and buying table
  • Collaborate with your dedicated Account Executive and field marketer to drive a world-class engagement experience with strategic sequences, impactful messaging and multi-threading
  • Understand the Planet product ecosystem and key verticals to provide a high level introduction and seamless hand-off to the Account Executive
  • Utilize business and industry knowledge to research accounts (i.e. ZoomInfo, 10K, industry publications), identify key stakeholders, generate interest, create/identify compelling events, and develop account plans

Our take

Planet’s high resolution, high frequency Earth-imaging satellites make daily changes in the earth more visible, allowing the company to provide quick turnaround geo-spatial data to its customers. The company was founded by a group of former NASA employees driven by a desire to make global change more actionable by rendering it more visible.

Planet operates the largest Earth-imaging satellite network available, putting it ahead of any competitors. Its landmass data is easy to access, requiring only a subscription from its members - who range from ecological organizations, to private companies and government bodies. The company is also supporting SES and Telesat on their space relay projects for NASA.

The current focus of Planet seems to be on employing its network towards climate and environmental issues. A partnership with Accenture comes with the goal of developing AI-powered geospatial intelligence tools to support sustainability projects; and the company's acquisition of Salo Sciences will allow it to develop offerings around enabling customers to quantify carbon stocks, monitor forest change, and mitigate climate risks.
