Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture
- Airflow expertise authoring and deploying Dags to production, monitoring execution, and troubleshooting failures
- Experience tuning Airflow performance, refactoring Dag code, right-sizing infrastructure, and implementing data quality checks and alerts
- Proven track record of guiding customers through platform deployments, migrations, or technical transformations, managing scope, timelines, and stakeholder conflicts
- Strong background in designing cloud native data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP, with familiarity in enterprise networking, security, and identity patterns
- Programming experience in Python and SQL
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Track record leading architecture discussions and driving technical decisions with engineering leaders and executive stakeholders
- Strong communication and documentation skills; can translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready architectures
What the job involves
- As a Senior Solutions Architect on the Delivery Architecture team, you are the senior technical lead for customer engagements within Astronomer’s Professional Services team
- You work directly with engineering leaders, architects, and executive stakeholders to design and deploy data orchestration platforms on Astro, define a clear path to production, and support delivery teams through complex implementations
- This role combines solution architecture with hands-on technical work, including building prototypes to validate designs, diagnosing issues, and unblocking delivery
- Lead architecture reviews, workshops, and technical design sessions with engineering teams and executive stakeholders
- Design end-to-end platform architectures integrating Airflow with cloud infrastructure, compute frameworks, and data platforms
- Review delivery work to ensure high standards for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence
- Diagnose and resolve issues, guide customers through deployments, migrations, and platform modernization
- Build reusable tools, frameworks, reference architectures, and best practices that improve delivery quality across the organization
Our take
