Role
Who you are
- 10+ years in a finance leadership roles
- 10+ years management and hiring experience
- Deep understanding of startup financial modeling and accounting
- Master's degree in business administration or a related field or CFA
- Experience with SaaS finance and accounting principles and metrics
- Experience with treasury and tax management
- Experience with capital raising for venture funded growth companies, M&A, and other financial transactions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Interest in sustainability and being part of the climate change solution
What the job involves
- Banyan is growing rapidly and seeking a Head of Finance to build our finance function. The Head of Finance will be an early partner and a key driver of Banyan’s growth and success
- This role will report to our CEO and work cross-functionally with stake-holders, internally and externally
- This role reports to our CEO and is hybrid based in our San Francisco office with the flexibility to adjust on an ad hoc basis
- Oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, including budgeting, accounting, treasury, and tax
- Maintain Banyan’s operating model, track monthly cash burn and anticipate future cash needs
- Direct accounting processes - partner with and manage outside accountants, build and execute plan to become audit ready, and improve overall reporting capabilities
- Control day-to-day cash management, including managing bank accounts, supporting payroll processing, Accounts Receivable (AR), and Accounts Payable (AP)
- Conduct dynamic scenario planning to help the company understand strategy execution trade-offs and their financial impact
- Support pricing and contract execution, working closely with the Legal and Sales teams
- Support BoD and investor communications with reporting and covenants
- Support all future M&A activities and analysis
- Support all future fundraising activities, including proforma financial models, communication with current and potential investors, data room management, term sheet discussions and in-person presentations
- Build processes and infrastructure to effectively track and scale revenue, including analytics and toolings
- Open access to and side-by-side work with the CEO and executive team
- Support for continued learning and development via training and online courses
- Access to industry news and events to expand your knowledge and awareness of FinTech and the climate space
- A collaborative and supportive team of smart, passionate people who are all focused on a common goal
