Role
Who you are
- Proactively demonstrates curiosity in learning about Anchorage’s technologies from managers, mentors, technical leads, and/or peers (e.g. peer reviews, code quality)
- Writes, reviews, tests, and documents code according to Anchorage engineering and team standards and practices
- Operates autonomously, yet also demonstrates the ability to ask for help as appropriate and apply it
- Can troubleshoot, debug, fix basic issues, and apply basic problem solving techniques
- Contributes to software design for their assigned intern project under direct supervision
- Is able to explain what Anchorage does and can summarize and explain the top company objectives
- Understands how their own work relates to the work of a broader team/function
- Contributes to team activities and collaborates with the team to solve problems
- Listens and speaks properly with other team members and shares standard information with colleagues, manager and other team managers or leads
- Builds stable working relationships internally
Desirable
- You are pursuing either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science (or similar degree) and will be graduating December 2026/Summer 2027
- You have experience with Blockchain technology and digital assets
- You are the student your classmates go to when they don’t understand why their code doesn’t work
- You were emotionally moved by the soundtrack to Hamilton, which chronicles the founding of a new financial system!
What the job involves
- Join Anchorage Lab s for the summer
- Come work in a dynamic and innovative environment on the forefront of the digital asset banking revolution
- You will work with a specific engineering team, designing and developing code to specs and progressing that code through the software development life-cycle into production
- You will be responsible for a team project through the 12-week program that’s been planned around your skill set
- You will be directly integrated into the team, attending large scale software life-cycle ceremonies and participating in requirements, design, maintenance and support discussions outside of your project
- You will also have a mentor assigned who can guide you as you learn about the industry and answer any immediate questions
- The goals of this program are:
- Learn - spend time learning with engineering experts solving real-world problems in a large-scale software environment
- Innovate - explore your own designs and solutions in a rapidly changing industry-leading environment
- Experience - work in a late-stage startup environment at the first and only US federally chartered crypto bank
- Grow - expand your skill set to better prepare you for your future career after graduation, whether or not that’s at Anchorage Digital

Anchorage is a crypto-native digital asset platform offering a raft of solutions that help companies leverage blockchain technologies. Their advanced security architecture facilitates streamlined access to the complex and fragmented digital asset space.
Financial backing for Anchorage has come from prestigious investors Visa and Andreessen Horowitz. Anchorage's broad offerings are set to be matched by plans to partner across a wide spread of neobanks, challenger & incumbent banks, and corporate treasurers. This would mean an impressive expansion of their already substantial domain of influence in a rapidly developing sector.
In early 2021, Anchorage secured a national trust charter from the OCC, making it the first-ever federally chartered digital asset bank. This is significant, as it provides a good barrier to entry for other companies looking to compete in this space, and gives legacy institutions the ability to offer digital asset access to their clients. Though it has raised considerable funding in the past, crypto instability and wider macroeconomic challenges forced Anchorage to cut 20% of its staff in March 2023. 2022 clampdowns on customer due dilligence internal controllers added to the pressure on Anchorage to streamline and refocus its efforts.
