What the job involves
- Design, develop and implement core software systems or applications
- Develop new products, including cloud-based or internet-related tools
- Build robust and scalable software to help improve eBay’s code services and system architecture
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and supply ideas to eBay’s technology, algorithms and products
- Work with the product and design teams to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and deliver results
- Estimate engineering efforts, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and triage production issues
- Aggregate information from various places and build relationships with key partners to get information
- Produce clear, well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews
- Responsible for a functional domain to design fault tolerant, highly available and performant web services and web applications by leveraging software architecture design, OOA/D skills, in addition to exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Partial telecommuting may be permitted from within a commutable distance
