Role
Who you are
- Strong TypeScript/JavaScript experience
- Able to work in a highly skilled engineering team in a fast-paced, iterative environment
- 4+ years experience in your main expertise area (Frontend, Backend etc)
- Comfortable picking up new things and working on technologies outside your comfort zone
- Are skilled in delivering features end-to-end, from architecture design and building through to releasing, testing and supporting
- Enthusiasm for our ways of working which include:
- Iterative development, continuous deployment and test automation
- Knowledge sharing, pair programming, collaborative design & development
- Shared code ownership & cross-functional teams
Desirable
- Are experienced in delivering features full-stack
- Are experienced in Python or SwiftUI
- Are experienced in deployment, releasing cycles or CI/CD
- Have experience with React Native (worked on large scale applications)
- Have experience with Serverless architectures
- Have experience with AWS
- Experience with Terraform or other IaC tooling (e.g. CDK, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Have experience in open source contributions, including reporting bugs/issues in GitHub, testing new releases, or contributing to code
- Have a strong interest in the health/fitness technologies
What the job involves
- We are looking for talented, creative and positive team players to join our highly-skilled Cross-Functional Engineering Team to help deliver new features for our iOS, Android and Apple watch applications and third-party integrations (Garmin, Strava, Coros, Fitbit Suuntu etc)
- You will work closely with our founders and CTO to help shape the future of Runna, who will support you all along this exciting journey
- Architect, build, test and deliver new features across the full stack
- Work with the Product team to identify the most suitable solution for the best customer experience
- Always be on hand to help other team members when they need help on technical matters
- Help us operate more efficiently, by building and maintaining our developer tooling and CI/CD pipeline
- We rotate the responsibility of releases across each team member, so you will get the opportunity to lead the process and deploy changes to production

Application process
- Our aim is to keep the interview process as straightforward and enjoyable as possible, and will consist of the following stages:
- Kick off! (apply below) - please let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make for you!
- Getting to Know You + Live Coding (45-minute video call, first 25 mins will be an introductory chat followed by two live coding exercises from )
- Take home technical task (max 1-2 hours to complete, or if you have something interesting you recently built and would like to showcase then that's perfectly OK)
- 1.5-hour technical interview (the first half of the call will be used to discuss the take-home technical task from the previous stage and the second half will consist some general architecture/tech questions)
- Meet the team (in-person chat with founder(s) and rest of the team)
- Once the process is finished, we promise to let you know our decision as soon as possible

As a way to keep fit, running has shot up in popularity in recent years, partially due to accessibility, especially during the pandemic. But for those who want to take running to the next level – whether that be a 5K or a marathon – it can be difficult to know where to start in terms of a training plan. Runna supplies an app with personalised training plans for all types of runs, to help people achieve their running and fitness goals.
Runna was founded in 2020 by running enthusiasts for running enthusiasts, in response to the lack of tools – save paying a professional trainer – available to help runners train. Although there is a wealth of day-to-day running apps available, where Runna stands out is in providing training plans for specific races, which can be distinguished by distance and goal time. In addition, it does this whilst maintaining a sense of community, which has proven to be a popular feature amongst other running apps, and still caters to a range of experience levels.
Runna has since consistent subscriber growth since its launch, serving thousands of users globally. The company plans to build and scale into the future, reach more customers, and expand its team.
